Sand Lake Town Library will be closed Friday, November 11 for Veterans Day. Open Saturday, Nov. 12, 10am – 2pm.

LEGO Tuesdays, 3:30 – 6pm. Drop in, bring a friend, get creative. We have lots of LEGOs to design with. 

Family Storytime – Wednesdays at 11am. Enjoy stories, songs, crafts & fun. All ages – no registration needed. 

Bring Your Own Device Thursday, November 17, 11am – 12pm. Get help with your specific tech questions.

SLTL Board Meeting – Thursday, November 17, 6:45pm.

Waffle Weekend – Saturday, November 19 stop in at 11am to talk books while enjoying DIY waffles. 

Representative Pat Ryan’s Mobile Office – Monday, November 21 between 11am & 3pm meet with local staff to get assistance with federal departments on issues relating to medicare, social security, passports, veteran’s issues, etc.

Book Club will be reading “West with Giraffes” by Lynda Rutledge for December. New members are always welcome. Meets first Wednesday of the month.

Art Exhibit –Stop by to see photographer Justin Morin’s work on display during the months of November and December. Great photos of wildlife & local spots.

North Greenbush Public Library Update

The Library will be closed tomorrow, Friday, November 11, in honor of Veterans Day. We will reopen Saturday, November 12, at 10 AM. 

Thursday “Crafternoons” continue through November! Each week a different fall-related craft will be set up in the children’s room between 3-5 PM. Come try a paper-roll hedgehog today, Nov. 10, and a hand-print turkey craft next week, Nov 17.

Storytime continues outdoors every Tuesday morning at 11 AM on the lawn outside the library entrance (weather permitting.)

Hold your horses! Come join our virtual book club meeting on Tuesday, November 22 at 6:30 PM when we will be discussing “Horse” by Geraldine Brooks, a runaway bestseller at the New York Times and Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association. The public is welcome to attend the monthly meeting of the North Greenbush Public Library Board of Trustees on Thursday, December 1, at 7 PM in the meeting room at Eastwyck Villlage, 1 Eastwyck Circle (just off Best Road.).

Stephentown Memorial Library Holiday Market

Looking to shop local for the Holidays?

Come visit Stephentown Memorial Library’s Holiday Market the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 25 from 10:00 to 2:00.

Shop for local baked goods, items from local artisans and crafters including ornaments, candles, pottery, bags, and more! Local illustrator Logan S. Kline will be there to sign his new children’s book Finding Fire. Meet the author and pick up your copy!

Upcoming Programs & Events at Poestenkill Library

Saturday, 11/12, 10:30 AM – Stone Soup Tinkergarten – Children ages 1.5 – 8 years old are invited to the library to join Tinkergarten leader, Heather Silvernail, in making Stone Soup! Taking inspiration from a classic tale, Stone Soup, participants will work together as a community to transform stones, water and the natural treasures around them into a marvelous pretend soup. Registration is not required, but is appreciated. Please call the library at 518-283-3721 to register.

Tuesday, 11/15, 2:00 – 5:00 PM – Recycled Paper Bead Jewelry Making – Looking for something to do after a 1/2 day of school? Drop in to the library any time between 2:00 and 5:00 to make your own paper beads and then string them into jewelry. Registration not required.

Thursday, 11/17, 6:00 PM – Gobble Up, Teen Snack Program – Registration required to ensure enough ingredients are on hand for all participants. During this program teens will work together to make 3 seasonal treats to snack on and take home. 

Wednesday, 11/23, 2:30 PM – Grown Up & Me Graphic Novel Book Group – Wondering why your kids love graphic novels so much? Come find out at our new Grown Up & Me Graphic Novel Book Group, recommended for tween children and their grown ups. Both children and grown ups should read the monthly selection, then join us at the library to chat about the book. Our first meeting will be held on Wednesday, 11/23, at 2:30 PM and we’ll be reviewing Witches of Brooklyn, by Sophie Escabasse. At the first meeting we’ll also discuss a best date/time for our next meeting and possible future book selections. No registration required. Copies of Witches of Brooklyn will be available at the circulation desk on a first come, first serve basis. This graphic novel is also available in the Libby app.

Nassau Free Library Harvest Fest

The Friends of the Nassau Free Library invite you to our annual Harvest Fest and Frozen pie sale Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Chandler Young VFW, Lyons Lake Road, Nassau, NY. 

Pick up your pre-ordered frozen pies, purchase baked goods, Jewelry, knitwear, Alpaca products and other crafts. This event will also include cider (for a small donation). Doors open 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The frozen pies this year are; Apple (10” & 6”), Cherry (10”), Blueberry (10”), Strawberry Rhubarb (10”) and Very Berry (10”), prices vary. 

These can only be pre-ordered and pre-paid at the library, through Friends members or by email friends@nullnassaufreellibrary.org or by mailing an order form from the library web site: www.nassaufreelibrary.org. American Steamship Heritage with Marvin Bubie

Ever wonder what the seals we see every day on police cars, fire trucks and town halls mean?

Local author, Marvin Bubie, will give a presentation that illustrates America’s steamship heritage by the cities and towns municipal seals they have adopted. Learn more about steamships, Robert Fulton, and the Erie Canal and how they are referenced in these seals.
