EG Community Library: Public Hearing Proposed 2024 Budget

The East Greenbush Community Library will be holding a public hearing for the proposed 2024 budget on Tuesday, July 18th at 6:30 p.m. in the library. The public is invited to attend. For more information go to https://eglibrary.org/about/board/. 

A second proposal on the ballot will be the election of one five-year position on the Library’s Board of Trustees. East Greenbush registered voters who wish to be considered as candidates for the Board of Trustees can pick up an information packet at the library on July 19th. The deadline for returning nominating petitions and candidate biography is 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 20th.

The election to determine the budget and trustee will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. in the library. Registered voters in the Town of East Greenbush are eligible to vote. The library is located at 10 Community Way, East Greenbush, NY 12061. The phone number is 518-477-7476.

7/6, 11a: Face it! Drawing for Adult Beginners. Join, in person or via Zoom, Joyce Raimondo, Education Coordinator of Pollack-Krasner House and Study Center in East Hampton, NY to learn the basics of drawing the human head, face, and facial features & more! Register.

7/11, 6p: Raising Backyard Chickens. Learn the basics of starting and maintaining poultry in your backyard. Presented by Cornell Cooperative Extension. Register.

7/13, 2p: Counting Breaths Meditation. Join Suryanarayana Chennapragada (Surya) in an interactive session to learn and practice this simple and rule-free meditation to quickly calm the mind to help with sleep, focus, stress and anxiety. Register.

7/17, 1, 2 or 3pm: Kindness Rocks (all ages): Use your creativity to paint rocks and help spread kindness in our community! Add your painted rocks to our Kindness Rock Garden here at the library or take them home. Register for 1 session only.

NCFL Announces Understanding Hospice On Tuesday, July 11 at 10 A.M.

North Chatham Free Library Announces, “Understanding Hospice” Part II of Its Preparing for Dying, Death and Bereavement Series on Tuesday, on July 11 at 10 A.M.

Join Caitlin St. George from The Community Hospice, who will discuss at the North Chatham Library, 4287 Rt. 203, the care, support, and services that Hospice offers both patients and their families. Attendees will learn how and when to engage Hospice services as starting early can lead to a better Hospice experience and better quality of life. Through this program attendees will: 

• Understand the difference between Hospice and Palliative Care  • The criteria for enrollment in Hospice  • How Hospice is paid for • Where care is provided • What happens after your loved one passes – Bereavement care.
