Sand Lake Town Library – Community Cookbook

SAND LAKE – While we’re staying at home, many of us are cooking more than usual. With that in mind, our Upper Hudson Library System is going to put together a downloadable cookbook full of all of our favorite recipes! If you have a favorite recipe or something new you’ve created during our self-isolation, why not share it? Email your recipes & pictures to info@nullsandlaketownlibrary.org with the subject line “Cookbook Challenge” or mail them to Sand Lake Town Library, 8428 Miller Hill Road, Averill Park, NY 12018 by July 1st. Brunswick Community Library – Storytime in a Bag Kits are Ready for Pick Up! 

TROY – Call (518) 279-4023 to request a Storytime bag and set up a pick up time. Each kit has a variety of books and other small surprises! Additional books can be added upon request.

EAST GREENBUSH – Summer Reading Challenge – Imagine Your Story: There’s still time to participate! The challenge is on now through 8/14. Play with Beanstack, our online program that allows participants of all ages to track their reading, complete fun challenges, earn badges and prizes! Adults who prefer our traditional game cards can download/print a copy from our website or pick up at our drive-thru window while supplies last. Update from Castleton Public Library

CASTLETON – Starting June 22, Castleton Public Library will be open to the public by appointment. Please note that building capacity and services offered will be limited during this time. We will continue to offer curbside pickup service for your convenience!

We’re also excited to announce this year’s Summer Reading Club! Summer Reading fun is offered for little ones, kids, teens, and adults. The more you read, the more chances you earn to win a prize! We will also offer a variety of virtual events and take-and-make craft & science kits throughout the summer. Sand Lake Town Library News

SAND LAKE – Need help drafting a resume and can’t wait until we reopen to patrons? On Tuesdays from 12pm to 2pm we can now virtually walk you through our resume builder program using GoToMeeting software. Check our website on Tuesday for the login information. Or, you can make an appointment by calling 518-674-5050 or emailing info@nullsandlaketownlibrary.org. Other days and times may be available.

Sidewalk pickup of materials continues – simply place your requests online at catalog.uhls.org or by phone at 518-674-5050. You will get a notification when the materials are ready. Pickup is taking place Mon & Wed 11 – 3, Tues & Thurs 2 – 6 and Saturday 10 – 2. Call us from the parking lot and we will bring your materials out to our sidewalk pickup table. Complete instructions can be found on our website (sandlaketownlibrary.org). We can also help with printing & copying – call or email for details.

We hope to allow patrons into the library on a limited basis starting June 29. Check our website to confirm. There are limits to the number allowed in the building, so it would help to call before you come.

Checked out materials can be returned at any time to our drop boxes in front of the library.

Plans are underway for our summer reading program which will start June 29. While much of it may have to take place online, we will still have paper forms for those who want them and are planning to have a take home craft once a week. Updates & programs will be posted to our website as we add them.

The library staff and the Board of Trustees continue to adapt our phased reopening plan based on new information provided by the state, DOH, CDC, and Upper Hudson Library System. Our goal is to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Nassau Free Library News

NASSAU – We are re-imagining our Summer Reading Program at the Nassau Free Library! The Summer Reading Program is a great way to learn over the summer and keep up brain power while having fun. This year we are introducing Readsquared, an online option for recording reading minutes, playing mini-games, and more. Go to nasaufreelibraryny11.readsquared.com to create an account and learn more about the READsquared app. Visit our website, www.nassaufreelibrary.org and our Facebook page to download and print out traditional reading logs & bingo sheets to complete at home. We will also have printed bingo sheets for reading minutes outside the library doors available. To learn about our new Take Home Art Kits visit our website. The kits will be available for pickup starting July 6th. The Nassau Free Library Summer Reading Program will host virtual programs, summer reading book club, and reading incentives for all ages.

The Nassau Free Library is located at 18 Church St. Nassau, NY 12123. Or doors are currently closed to the public, but our collection is available for check-out through our contact-free pickup service.
