Nassau Free Library Summer Reading Program

Summer Reading Kick-Off Party Thursday, 6/22 6-7:30 Celebrate the night before the last day of school and the start of summer at our Summer Reading Kickoff Party! We’ll have a bounce house, face painting, crafts, Stewart’s ice cream sundaes and tons of summer reading info for you! Parking available across the street at St Mary’s Church.

Pride Movie Night for Teens: Tues. 6/27 6-8pm: Showing Prom. PG-13

S’mores Party-Wed. 6/28, 2-3pm: Join us for an hour of s’more fun where we make & taste all kinds of s’mores!

Lego Club Thursday, 6/29, 6pm: Children of all ages join together to create and play, using the library’s large collection of LEGOS.

4th of July Craft Hour- Mon. 7/3, 2-3pm: Stop in to make festive July 4th crafts, play games, enjoy 4th of July snacks.

Cupcake Decorating- Mon. 7/10 2-3pm: Decorate cupcakes with frosting, sprinkles, candy & more to share with a friend.

Make a Quilt Square- Wed. 7/12 2-4pm: Stop in anytime between 12-4pm to make a quilt square for our library community quilt. (All ages)

Jam Making for Teens & Adults- Tues. 7/18 2-4pm: Join us with an adult or solo to learn all about making your own homemade jam. 

Mad Science of the Capital District: Dinosaurs! Wed. 7/19 2-3pm

Reptile I Spy Scavenger Hunt- Week of 7/24: Use your keen eyes to spote reptile pictures around the library and earn a small prize. 

Graphic Design Hour Tues. 7/25 2-3pm Addy, a local college student, will be here to teach you about graphic design. Make a min-book and a button with your own designs.

Upcoming Programs and Events at Poestenkill Library

Monday 6/26 – 7:30 PM – Board of Trustees Meeting: All meetings of the Board of Trustees are open to the public. 

Wednesday 6/28 – 6:00 PM – Shark Exploration: Children are invited to the library for another fun STEM program with Ms. Phil. During this program attendees will learn about the life of sharks and then make a mobile and a sand-filled bottle with real shark teeth! Registration is required as supplies are limited. Please call the library at 518-283-3721 to reserve your space or add your name to the sign up sheet in the library.

Thursday 6/29 – 6:00 PM – Patriotic Keychain Diamond Art: Teens and adults are invited to the library for a relaxing evening at our monthly diamond art program. This month we’re making patriotic keychains or bag clips in honor of the upcoming July 4th holiday. No diamond art experience is required. These projects are suitable for beginners or experienced diamond art enthusiasts. Registration is required as space and supplies are limited. Please register by calling the library at 518-283-3721 or add your name to the sign up sheet the next time you’re in.

Fridays 10:15 – Storytime with Ms. Erin. Children and their guardians can join Ms. Erin, for stories and crafts at the library every Friday morning at 10:15 am.

Also, the Friends of the Library are once again selling tickets for the Desert of the Month fundraiser. This year there will be 2 winners selected. Each will receive 6 homemade desserts in the coming year; one every other month. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the circulation desk during regular hours. Two lucky winners will be drawn on September 9th at Fall Market Day.

North Greenbush Public Library Update

What’s all the “buzzzz” about? Strive to “BEE a Community of Readers” this summer and register for our reading challenge in the All Together Now Summer Reading program. From children through adults, track your reading to earn prizes and raffle tickets. Come to the library’s circulation desk beginning June 26 to register and pick up a gameboard.

Bring your children to pre-school Storytime Tuesday at 11 AM in the North Greenbush Town Hall Annex and engage in songs, games, and a related craft. Thursday Crafternoons are held in the Children’s Room between 3 and 5 PM. Find your creativity!

There’s no time like the present to find out what your library is up to. Come to the monthly Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, June 22 at 7 PM held in the meeting room at Eastwyck Village, at 1 Eastwyck Circle, off Best Road.

Remarkably Bright Creatures, by Shelby Van Pelt, is the June choice of our Virtual Book Club. Join us on Zoom on Tuesday, June 27 at 6:30 PM. Call the library at 283-0303 to request a meeting link.
