Storytime: Wednesdays 10:30am Join us for stories, songs, and crafts geared towards our youngest library friends. Infants, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners and 1st graders along with their grownups are welcome.

Friends Book & Puzzle Sale Sat. June 10, 9am-1pm (During Village-Wide Yard Sale):Stop by the library and find puzzles, gently used fiction, nonfiction, paperbacks, children’s books, and DVDs! 

Bring Your Own Device Event: Tuesday, June 13, 1-2pm Do you need help with using your digital device? Drop into the Nassau Free Library with your laptop, tablet, or smartphone to get help. 

Beginner Yoga: Thursday, June 15 at 6:00pm Emily Brache will introduce the benefits of yoga for health, mind, body, and spirit. $5/class suggested donation.

Summer Reading Kick-Off Party Thursday, June 22nd 6-7:30- Celebrate the night before the last day of school and the start of summer at our Summer Reading Kickoff Party! We’ll have a bounce house, face painting, crafts, Stewart’s ice cream sundaes, and tons of summer reading info for you! Parking available across the street at St Mary’s Church.

Lego Club Thursday, June 29th, 6pm: Children of all ages join together to create and play, using the library’s large collection of LEGOS.

Sand Lake Town Library News

Ron Greenberg, one of our local artistic talents, has a photography display at the SLT Library through the end of June. Ron combines his love of travel with his love of photography and creates a wide-ranging display of locales, from nearby Washington County to far away Iceland. Be sure to stop in and enjoy this wonderful, colorful display.

LEGO Tuesdays, 3:30 – 6pm. Drop in, bring a friend, build! We have lots of LEGOs to design with. 

Storytime is on a short break for June and will be back in July.

North Greenbush Public Library Update

Think summer fun when you bring your children to Storytime, every Tuesday at 11 AM, and Crafternoon each Thursday from 3-5 PM. Summer will be the theme for our Crafternoon projects in June.

With Father’s Day just around the corner, what’s better than giving your dad a hand-made card! You’ll find all the supplies you need at our Father’s Day card-making station in the Children’s Room on Friday, June 16, 12 to 7 PM, and Saturday, June 17, from 10 AM to 2 PM.

In observance of the federal holiday Juneteenth, we will be closed Monday, June 19, and will reopen Tuesday, June 20 at 10 AM.

We’re busy as a bee getting ready for Summer Reading. Join in “All Together Now” Challenges, and our industrious bee mascot, building and maintaining together their communities. We’ll have reading challenges for children, teens, and adults. “All Together Now” begins Monday, June 26. Come to the library to register, then see all the different programs we’ll be hosting throughout the summer.

Adult Craft Monday: Tangle Coasters – Mon, Jun 12, 6:00 p.m. (Main) Join the library for an easy and relaxing craft program! This month we will be making tangle coasters. Detailed instructions on how to create a variety of patterns will be provided. Each participant will go home with two beautifully illustrated wooden coasters. RR

North Chatham Free Library (NCFL) Hosts a Free Gathering of Book Lovers in the Library Back Garden

Join Fellow Bibliophiles on Wednesday, June 14 at 10 A.M.

Just in time to get ideas for summer reading, the North Chatham Free Library is hosting a free and open gathering of bibliophiles in its beautiful garden on Wednesday, June 14 at 10 A.M. In case of rain, the event will be held inside the library. At the conclusion, everyone will receive a list of books favored by others.

Participants should come prepared to recommend one or two favorite reads and briefly describe its plot and author and why the book is esteemed. Time will be allotted time for questions and answers about each book. This shared input will be a guide for your summer reading and/or provide suggestions for book clubs. Book submissions may be fiction or nonfiction.

Bring your own chair if you can, and should you wish, your own beverage. Cookies will be provided. There is a 12-participant limit to allow ample time for discussion; so register early to ensure inclusion and avoid disappointment. Registernorthchathamlibrary@nullgmail.com

EG Library Kicks Off Summer Reading with Illusionist Leon Etienne!

You’ve seen him on America’s Got Talent, Jimmy Fallon, and Penn & Teller: Fool Us! Illusionist Leon Etienne rocks venues around the world with his jaw-dropping, critically acclaimed hit show, Magic Rocks! On June 27 at 2 pm in the Genet Elementary School auditorium the East Greenbush Community Library will be kicking off its Summer Reading Program with a family-friendly event featuring the world’s best illusions, award-winning sleight of hand, and hilarious comedy, in an immersive experience that brings joy, laughter, and wonder when the world needs it most! The East Greenbush Community Library’s Summer Reading Program officially begins June 26 and runs through August 11, and you’re invited to come into the library to celebrate reading, nature, and exploration guided by this year’s theme, “Read Beyond the Beaten Path.” Participants of all ages can read books and complete the challenge activities for a chance to win fantastic prizes! You can expect storytimes and nature programs for the kids, and games and art for the teens. Adults can look forward to book clubs, concerts, and craft events, and there will be special performers for all ages! Families can join in the fun with our all-ages Bingo night, take part in our Tiny Art Show, and paint kindness rocks together to spread cheer throughout the community. Summer is the perfect time to get off the beaten path, enjoy a great read, and explore new books and authors! Registration begins June 26th. Annual Book & Puzzle Sale, Nassau Free Library

Friends of N.F.L. Annual Book & Puzzle Sale – June 10, 2023

Do you have your SUMMER READING planned? Or are you in need of new material and maybe new puzzles? The Friends of the Nassau Free Library will hold their annual Spring Book and Puzzle Sale, Saturday, June 10th at the Nassau Free Library, 18 Church Street, Nassau, NY 12123. Hours for the sale will be Saturday 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (bag sale at 1:00). Gently used Jigsaw puzzles will also be available on Saturday. Parking is in back or across the street in the church lot. 

Beginning May 22nd donations of gently used books, both hard back and paperback and puzzles are being accepted at the library. The deadline for contributions is Saturday, June 3, 2023. No text books or encyclopedias and all deliveries should be during library hours. Complete puzzles in original boxes, please! Poestenkill Library/Clement Scholarship

The Poestenkill Library/Clement Scholarship of $1000 is available again this year for a 2023 high school graduate who is attending a two or four-year college in the Fall. 

The student is asked to write a 500-word essay expressing their love of reading and mail it to the library at 9 Plank Rd Poestenkill, NY 12140, email it to info@nullpoestenkilllibrary.org or bring it directly to the library. 

The deadline is 6/16/23. The candidate must be a Poestenkill resident but can attend any high school or be home schooled. Please put all pertinent information – name, address, phone #, and name of college on a separate sheet of paper so the winner can be picked solely on the content of the essay.
