AVERILL PARK – AP’s fall sports season continues to stay busy as we turn into October.

The football team had a tight 29-28 loss on 10/2 to Amsterdam. Gavin Giordano and Jacob Keller each rushed in for touchdowns while Giordano had two in the air to Nicholas Galuski and Jake Rizzo. Giordano’s pass to Galuski was for a long 42 yards. The football team will face Niskayuna in their next game on 10/8.

The golf team went undefeated on the week, starting off with a 264-270 win against Burnt Hills on 9/27. David Mooradian and Alex Matice led the way, shooting 40 and 41 respectively. The golf team beat Columbia 260-265 on 9/30 thanks to Nate Stay shooting a 40. The boys then went on to shoot a season low 253 in their win against Troy on 10/1. Josh Durocher shot an even-par 36 to win medalist honors. 

The boys cross country team continued their dominating season, winning 1st place in the Guilderland Invitational on 10/2. Junior Colin Brunelle led the boys team, finishing in third place overall, followed by Jacob Hanlon in fifth, and Evan Sweet in sixth. The girls cross country team placed 4th in the invitational, led by Violet Dupuis, Lexi Ruppe, and Kim Mazzacco. The cross country teams will run in the Manhattan Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park on 10/9. 

The girls tennis team was defeated by Shaker 8-1 on 9/27. The doubles team of Elizabeth Daly & Jessica Ody picked up the lone win for the girls. The girls fell 7-2 on 9/28 to Niskayuna with doubles teams Elizabeth Daly & Jessica Ody and Ella Lindheimer & Lilli Vanderkar picking up wins. The girls were able to win their senior day match versus Columbia on 9/29 with a 7-2 final score. Singles winners were seniors Sydney Ferguson, Avery Kittleson, Dani Lapier, and Dayna Densmore. Doubles winners were seniors Libby Bulmer & Lilly Vrsalovic, Ella Lindheimer & Lilli Vanderkar, and Sophia Maddalone & Zara Cole. 

The boys soccer team lost 4-1 to Shaker on 9/28. Eamon Delair scored the Warrior’s only goal off an assist from Greg Effman. Brady Mazzeo had 4 saves in goal. The boys ended their contest on 9/30 with a 1-1 draw against Columbia. Nate O’Connor scored for AP off a Greg Effman assist. The boys fell to CBA on 10/2 with a 2-0 final score. The soccer team will face Bethlehem on 10/7 for their next game.

The girls soccer team lost to a tough Shaker team 2-0 on 9/28. The girls then fell to Columbia 2-1 on 9/30. Madison Locci scored for AP while keeper Michaelina Lombardi had 4 saves. The girls will travel to Bethlehem for their next game on 10/7.

The volleyball team was defeated by Shaker on 9/28. Final score in 5 sets was 25-17, 18-25, 25-13, 21-25, 25-14. The girls team lost 25-23, 25-10, 25-22 to Columbia on 9/30. Bella Mahar had 6 kills, Emily Prest had 5 kills, and Molly Eaton had 4 kills in the losing effort. The volleyball team will travel to Bethlehem for their next game on 10/7

The Troy-AP girls swim team lost 56-35 against Shenendehowa on 9/27. They will travel to Ballston Spa on 10/13 for their next meet.
