North Greenbush Public Library

Weather or not, our Tuesday Pre-school Storytime and Thursday Crafternoons are ongoing! Join Storytime in the North Greenbush Town Hall Annex at 11 AM, with songs, games, and a related craft. Thursday Crafternoons are held in the library’s Children’s Room, 3-5 PM, with this month’s crafts based

on book characters.

Finding Fire Teen and Adult Program by Local Author Logan S. Kline

Logan S. Kline, local author and illustrator of “Finding Fire” is excited to present his award-winning picture book to teens and adults interested in the process of making a children’s picture book at the Sand Lake Town Library on March 30 at 6:00 PM. 

As Logan presents the process of making Finding Fire, he will share his original illustrations, dummy books, publisher’s proofs, and more. Character design, the importance of page turn, and the challenges of the revision process will also be explored.

Upcoming Programs at Poestenkill Library

Irish Step Dancing – Saturday, 3/25, at 10:30 AM. The Isabelle School of Dance will once again be visiting the library on Saturday, March 25th, to host an Irish Step Dancing program! During this program an instructor will be doing a short Irish Step Dance demonstration and then teaching participants some basic steps. No prior dance experience is required to attend this program. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. Registration is required as space is limited. You can register by calling the library at 518-283-3721.

Spring Seed Swap & Soil Testing – Thursday, 3/30, at 6:00 PM. Whether you’re a beginning gardener or a veteran grower, we invite you to the library to swap seeds and share your gardening knowledge with friends and neighbors. At the Seed Swap we’ll have supplies available for you to make your own biodegradable starter pots from recycled newspaper and this year Cornell Cooperative Extension will also be providing free pH testing if you bring a soil sample. Please note: 2 cups of soil are needed to complete a pH test. If your sample is dry, testing will be done at the library during the event. If the soil is wet, testing will be done at the CCE offices & results sent via US Postal mail. Chair Yoga – Mon, Mar 27, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. (Lansingburgh) Join us every Monday for Chair Yoga, performed using a chair for balance and support. Focus will be on yogic breath work and relaxation. Please wear loose/comfortable clothing and bring your yoga mat (because it gives participants more traction). RR

Lego Brick Builders – Mon., Mar 27, 3:30-4:30 p.m. (Lansingburgh) Join us for some lightly structured Lego fun; build off a theme or get creative! Legos provided. For ages 5 and up. Children under 7 must have a caregiver present at all times.

Woolen Air Diffusers – Mon., Mar 27, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. (Lansingburgh) Participants will create adorable diffusers for home or car out of felt wool balls. The diffusers are finished with a decorative clothespin and a cute tassel and then infused with essential oils of choice. All materials will be provided. RR

Teen Game Night – Tues, Mar 28, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. (Main) Do you like video games or board games, or just want a fun place to hang out with your friends? Come to the library for some free games and snacks!

Adult Contemporary Book Club – Wed, Mar 29, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. (Lansingburgh) This month we are reading Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead.

Music Trivia! – Thurs, Mar 30, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. (Main) Test your music knowledge and win some fun prizes! Come with a team or make a team of your own with like-minded trivia enthusiasts! Light refreshments will be provided.

Storytime Learn and Play – Thur., Mar 30, 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. (Main) & Fri., Mar 31, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. (Lansingburgh) We will share stories, songs, movements and more! For children ages 0-5 with a caregiver.

T-e-a-m up for the SLTL Spelling Bee

The Sand Lake Town Library Friends are buzzing with spelling excitement! If you love word games, join the fun on Friday, March 31st at 7:00pm at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts. 

We are challenging local boards, businesses, clubs, community workers, friends, politicians, restaurants, teams and other groups to compete in this local round of the Great UHLS Spell-Off! Teams are made up of 2 people and the Bee will have both a written and a spoken portion. 

You can sign up at www.sandlaketownlibrary.org or in-person at the library (8428 Miller Hill Road). Winners will go on to compete at the Upper Hudson Spell-Off on April 30th. Email sltlfriends@nullgmail.com with questions. Don’t worry, you don’t need to be an a-p-i-a-r-i-s-t to participate!
