3/10, 1p: The First Ladies as Style Icons. First Ladies have been admired for many reasons. For some, their sense of style defined their image. Learn how some first ladies influenced fashion trends and defined the style of their time. Register.
3/12, 2p: Historical Society: History of the Ilium Club presented by Barbara Urban, historian for the Ilium Club. The talk will include the history of the club and other women’s groups in the country that came into being around the same era – all for the “intellectual betterment of women.” Register.

Did you know that Dr. Seuss’ birthday is March 2? We’re celebrating Thursday Crafternoons with a Dr. Seuss related craft on Thursday, March 2, and more book character-themed crafts for the month of March. Join us in the Children’s Room from 3-5 PM.

If you’re between the ages of 10-12, join our Tween Book Club on Saturday, March 4, at noon, for a discussion of the book “The Westing Game” by Ellen Rasken. We’ll work on a related craft and partake of snacks.

A Spin on Words with Friends
If you love word games, the Sand Lake Town Library Friends has a fun challenge for you! The Great Upper Hudson Library System is sponsoring a Spell-Off that highlights words selected with adults in mind. And we are buzzing with excitement for our local spelling bee at the end of March!
So team up with a family member or friend (must be 18 or older) to compete. Children aged 10-13 can also be on a team with an adult. The winning SLTL 2-person team will head to the final Spell-Off against winners from other libraries on April 30th.

Berkshire Sampler with Author Kevin O’Hara
To honor St. Patrick’s Day, author Kevin O’Hara will present “A Berkshire Sampler,” reading selected short stories at the North Chatham Free Library on Sunday, March 19 at 3 pm.

Compost is Black Gold
On March 15 from 10-11 PM, join Master Gardener Kathryn Schneider at the North Chatham Free Library as she covers the biochemistry of composting, what to put in the mix, types of bins, and how to avoid problems. Meet Your Friends at the Library
The Friends of the Troy Public Library is hosting a Meet and Greet on Sunday, March 5, from 2-4 at the Lansingburgh Branch, 27 114th. St. Lansingburgh.
The public is invited to join Friends, volunteers and supporters and help celebrate the reconfiguration of the main area of the Library. It now features a larger more inviting Young People’s area and more private computer workstations for adults. The event is free.
