Hello Warrior Fans! It was a jam-packed week of action for Averill Park’s varsity teams as the month came to an end.

The softball team defeated Shaker 7-1 on 4/25 thanks to a two hit and two run effort from Bella Mancino. Maisie Dawson, Abbey Nagel, and Riley O’Brien each had two RBIs as well. The girls went on to beat Columbia 13-1 in only five innings on 4/27. Taylor Schoonmaker only allowed five hits while pitching the entire game. The softball team was able to finish off the week undefeated, beating Ballston Spa 11-8 on 4/28. Maisie Dawson had a strong outing, going 4-5 with a home run and four RBIs. Bella Mahar went 2-3 with a home run and two RBIs as well. The softball team will face Schenectady in their next game on 5/6.

Ethan Nardacci threw six innings of work on 4/25 to lead the baseball team to an 11-2 win over Shaker. Steve Koval and Hunter Willett had three RBIs each. The boys fell 10-9 against Columbia on 4/27 but turned it around the following day with a 12-2 win over Amsterdam. Wyatt Thorsen tossed five innings, only giving up one hit while striking out five. The baseball team had a huge 17-11 win over CBA on 4/29. Alex Yash, Nicholas Galuski, Aidan McCue, Hunter Willett and Ethan Nardacci all had multiple hits. The boys stayed hot, defeating Saugerties 13-9 on 4/30 to end the week. The baseball team looks to continue their dominance against Schenectady on 5/6 for their next game.

The tennis team fell 8-1 against Shaker on 4/25. #1 singles player Zach Ryan picked up the lone win in straight sets for the Warriors. The boys went on to defeat Columbia on 4/27, with a 7-2 final score. Singles winners were Cavan Hicks, Greg Effman, Thomas Nero and Tyler Michaels. Doubles winners were Ryan Richter & Jason Strickland, Kyle Millington & Owen Perala, and Dylan Juneau & Cooper Smith. The tennis team remained victorious on 4/28, beating CBA 6-3. Hicks, Effman, Nero, and Michaels picked up singles wins while Richter & Strickland and Millington & Perala won on the doubles end. The tennis team takes on Queensbury in their next match on 5/5.

The boys lacrosse team fell 18-3 against Columbia on 4/25. Jacob Phelps, Luke Hempel and Ethan Jamison scored for the Warriors. The boys defeated Troy on 4/26, with a 15-3 final score. Luke Hempel led the boys with five goals and three assists. The lacrosse team fell 18-5 to CBA on 4/28. Hempel had a hat trick in the loss. The boys finished out the week with a 21-5 loss to Guilderland on 4/30. Hempel led the team with two goals. The lacrosse team travels to South Glens Falls on 5/7 for their next game. 

The girls lacrosse team fell 11-4 against Columbia on 4/25. Gwen Jamison led the girls with three goals while Lilli Vanderkar scored once. The lacrosse team fell 10-4 against Guilderland on 4/30. The girls travel to Saugerties for their next game on 5/5.

The track teams had a meet at Columbia on 4/26. The girls team won 92-88. The boys team fell 97-82. The track teams also had a meet in Cohoes on 4/30. The sprint medley relay team of Logan Barsalow, Michelina Lombardi, Marissa Mazzacco, and Abby Wicks broke the girls school record, with a time of 4:20.87! The track teams travel to Watervliet on 5/6 for their next meet.
