Guided Meditation at The Troy Public Library

TROY – The Troy Public Library will offer Meditation Classes on Wednesdays through June 30th at 6:30PM.

Learn a surprisingly simple yet powerful practice that can help you reduce stress, get recharged, and possibly get you “blissed-out” while seated comfortably in a chair. Led by Stress Management Coach Michael Fuselli, with over 35 years of meditation teaching and practice experience. Beginners are always welcome. Registration is required. This program will be presented using Zoom. Joining the presentation will require the installation of the Zoom client on your computer (microphone and speakers required for audio, camera for video) or the Zoom app on your mobile device. Book Seller New Summer Hours

TROY – The Book Seller will be open on Saturdays from 10-1 and Wednesdays from 4-6. We offer gently used books of all types, plus CDs.

The Book Seller is a project of the Friends of the Troy Public Library. All proceeds go to programs and materials at the library. Plus we underwrite infrastructure improvements, both at Main and the Lansingburgh Branch. Lego & Puzzle Sale

NASSAU – Big Legos & Jigsaw puzzles Sale! The Friends of the Nassau Free Library invite you to join us on June 12, 2021 for a special sale of gently used jigsaw puzzles and Legos. This event will be held on the front lawn of the Nassau Free Library, 18 Church Street, Nassau, NY, and the same day as the Village Wide Garage Sale, also on June 12th. The sale will begin at 9:00 – (until?) 1:00. items will be cleaned and sanitized as much as possible. In addition, raffle tickets for our in beautiful Winter Upstate quilt will be available

At this time we welcome donations of GENTLY used puzzles and Legos. These may be brought to the Nassau Free Library during regular hours or deposited in the large marked bins on the front porch. Please help us by donating only puzzles and Legos in good condition. As always we very much appreciate the contributions of our community. Thank YOU!

Decoding the Mysteries of Cats, or Why Cats Do What They Do

TROY – Ever wonder watch your cat do something crazy and wonder what they could be thinking? Monday, June 21st, at 6:00 pm, Feline Behaviorist, Stephen Quandt, most recently the Feline Behavior Coordinator for the Animal Care Centers of NYC (nycacc.org) and of the ASPCA.org will be speaking at this feline behavior webinar for the public that explains cat behavior from the perspective of the evolutionary and adaptive forces that help shape their lives.

There will be a Q&A at the end where you can ask general behavior questions or questions that pertain to your own feline friend!

NASSAU – The Nassau Free Library is open to the public Mon.- Tues. 12 pm-6pm, Wed. 10am- 6pm, Thu.-Fri. 12pm-6pm, & Sat. 10am-12pm. Parking Lot Pickup service will still be available by calling the library when you get to the parking lot.

Advance sign-up is preferred; due to COVID-19, attendance is limited and walk-ins may be turned away. Sign-up for walk-in performers begins at 12:30 pm. Performers should be prepared for a 15-20 minute set.

Current NYS COVID-19 rules are expected to be followed by the performer and audience. The minimum performance age is 12. Please bring your own chair. Refreshments will not be available but feel free to bring a beverage or picnic lunch.

Please be aware that this is running concurrently with The Village of Nassau Village Wide Garage Sale. Expect heavy foot and auto traffic.

North Greenbush Public Library Update

NORTH GREENBUSH – Big News! Come to the library more often and stay longer! Hours are now Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 7 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM. No longer do you need an appointment to browse, use a computer, or copy/print/fax. Visits are extended to 30 minutes and the Grab ‘N” Go

pick-up option remains available. Masks are still required to enter the library. Call the library at 518-283-0303 with your questions.

Our Summer Reading challenge begins June 28. This summer’s theme is “Tails and Tales.” Once again we will partner with READsquared to create an online summer reading challenge for all ages–adults, teens, and children. And stay tuned for details about new outdoor activities we have planned for children this summer!

Take time this summer to visit a local museum using one of our many museum passes, including the NY State Park Empire Pass, the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, and the FASNY Museum of Firefighting. Call the library (or stop by today!) to pick one up.

Sand Lake Town Library Board Meeting & News

SAND LAKE – SLTLibrary Board of Trustees will meet Thursday, June 17 at 6:45pm. The location will be posted on the library’s website the day of the meeting.

Stop by the library to enjoy the display honoring Asian American and Pacific Islander cultures. New Asian-themed books are being added to the children’s and adult collections on an ongoing basis thanks to some generous donors. This initiative is in keeping with the Upper Hudson Library System’s commitment to “reflect and equitably serve all people.”

With easing of COVID restrictions and the end of the school year approaching, now is a great time to “come home” to your community library. The Sand Lake Town Library recently has extended its hours to Monday – Thursday 11 – 8, Friday 11 – 3, and Saturday 10 – 2.

While there you can check out a museum pass (3-day loan) for a visit to the USS Slater, MASS MoCA, or The Clark. This summer you can also check out an Empire Pass which allows vehicle access to most facilities operated by NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation or NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
