Understanding the Affordable Care Act and What it Means to You

Join us at the Troy Public Library on Thursday, May 23rd, at 6PM as Health Insurance Navigator, Luis Belman, from the Public Policy and Education Fund of New York State, explains the benefits of the Affordable Care Act and what options you have when enrolling for health insurance.

Friends of The Rensselaer Library

The Friends met on April 17th and discussed their upcoming events and fundraisers.  The next meeting of the Friends will be May 16th at 6:30pm.  New members are always welcome; it is a wonderful way to improve the lives of our young and not so young people of the city, so volunteer today.

SAVE THE DATES:

May 9th–Teen After School Community Service Day 3pm-when finished.

June 12th–The Friends will sponsor “Jester Jim” at VR Elementary School at 1pm.

June 29th–Registration for the Summer Reading Kickoff. This year’s theme will be “A Universe of Stories” 11am-2pm. Hot dogs, rocket fuel and moon pies.

Sept. 14th–Our first annual fundraiser “A Taste of Rensselaer” from 5-9 pm at City View Terrace above Partition Wine and Liquor.

Fine Free Fridays Announced at Stephentown Memorial Library

Do you have library books or movies that you’ve had out for a long time and haven’t brought them back because of those pesky late fees? Well, Fine Free Fridays are for you!! Effective immediately, SML is waiving late fees for ALL items returned Thursday night in the drop box, at the front desk during Friday’s open hours, and those that are returned to the drop box Friday nights. Teen Volunteer day-Thursday, May 9, at 3 PM.  High School Seniors, need a few more hours to complete for your community service requirement? Join us to help spruce up the library for spring. Wear work clothes and sneakers. (We will reschedule if the weather is bad).

Yoga Program –Troy Public Library

The Troy Public Library’s Lansingburgh Branch in conjunction with the Troy YMCA, will offer Yoga classes on Mondays, April 1st – May 20th, at 5:30PM. This is an all-level yoga class that will invigorate your body and reduce stress.  You will experience traditional yoga poses, stretching, breathing and relaxation techniques which will improve your flexibility, balance, strength and overall wellness. Please bring your own mat.
