Sand Lake Veterans Day Ceremony

This year we will be holding our Veteran’s Day Ceremonies on Monday, November 12th, at 11:00 am, to honor our Veterans, at The Sand Lake Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Our honored speaker will be LT Julia Cumming. She is a native of Castleton-on-Hudson and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Upon commissioning through the NROTC program, she served aboard the USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93) as the Electronic Warfare Officer. During that tour, she completed a Western Pacific deployment and the Singapore Naval Junior Officers’ Course.

Following nuclear power training, LT Cumming served as Reactor Controls division officer on the USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77) and as a Nuclear Trained Officer at Navy Recruiting Headquarters in Millington.

LT Cumming was approved for lateral transfer to the Engineering Duty Officer community in 2017 and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Naval Construction and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Please come and honor “Those Common Men and Women Who Proudly Served Our Country with Uncommon Valor”.
