Tracey Rex Reports to the People of Schodack

SCHODACK – I believe staying in touch with constituents is an important part of serving in elective office. This report, published every month since I took office in 2016, is an example of my commitment to keeping Schodack residents informed about town government news and community events.

During November, the Town Board unanimously adopted the 2022 Town Budget that stays below the state property tax cap and maintains essential services such as public safety, emergency medical services, water and sewer, street maintenance, libraries, and parks and recreation.

We also adopted resolutions authorizing the Town Supervisor to execute intermunicipal agreements with Rensselaer County for the design and construction of water improvements and sewer connections to the town’s Consolidated Water District #101 (Route 9) and Sewer District #6, respectively. These projects are being supported by funds made available through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

Additionally, the Town Board approved the 2022 Transfer Station Rules, Regulations and Fee Schedule that includes no price increases for the upcoming year. Gary Ziegler was also appointed as Town Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer.

Congratulations to the Maple Hill Boys Soccer team who concluded their terrific 2021 season as NYS Section 2 Champions, North Region Champions, and NYS Class C Finalist. Additional congrats to Eli Charlebois (MVP), Landon Flatch and Gavin Haller for being named Patroon Conference First Team All-Stars and Dan Gillespie for earning Coach of the Year honors.

With the holiday season upon us and recognizing that these are difficult times for many local families, I encourage people to make donations to our wonderful The Anchor Food Pantry located in the Village of Castleton-on-Hudson. Staff and volunteers at The Anchor are dedicated to assisting local families during times of need. For more information about The Anchor, call 518-732-4120.
