POESTENKILL – Poestenkill Town Board – Meeting Minutes – Thursday, September 17, 2020

Due to COVID-19, the Town Board was hold at the Sullivan Jones VFW.

A public hearing was held on the potential creation of an Ambulance District. There were many comments both for and against any change to the existing emergency medical services.

A town resident expressed concern of the Highway Department not picking up brush, stating it has been months since the brush was last picked up.

Supervisor Hammond announced the resignation of Judy Grattan from the Planning Board and thanked her for her years of service to the town.

Fire Department – Councilman Wohlleber asked about training of Narcan for the Fire Company. Assistant Chief Ruppert stated that the Fire Company is looking into it. Assistant Chief D. Basale stated that the Sheriff and Stated Trooper’s carry Narcan with them and before First Responders enter the scene it needs to be secured. Supervisor Hammond is looking into a Narcan training for Town residents.

Library – will be looking to paint the building and the library will be funding this project.

Resolution #13-2020 – Town Board creating an ambulance district subject to a mandatory referendum. Motion made by Councilman Wohlleber, seconded by Councilman Van Slyke and passed 3-2 with Councilmembers Butler and Hass voting no. (this action creates an election for Poestenkill voters to decide the issue of creating an ambulance district – and provide new tax dollars to improve services – or to keep the current system. The current system comes at no cost to town taxpayers. The date of the election TBD).

These minutes to be approved at the next regularly scheduled town board meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 15th, at 7pm – at Town Hall.
