PRIMARY ELECTION – TUESDAY, JUNE 27TH, 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM at following polling locations:

Districts 1 & 8 – VFW

Districts 2 & 10 – EG Community Library

1. Sand Lake Kiwanis will be holding its annual Summerfest June 16 -17 – 18 at Butler Park.  Admission is free and there is something for everyone; music, food, tennis & pickleball, carnival rides and much more.  The highlight of the event, fabulous fireworks, will be on Saturday night.  Come one come all.  

2. Primary Day is Tuesday, June 27, 2023.  Polling locations for Sand Lake are:  District 2 & 3, WSL- FD; Districts 1 & 6, AP-SL FD; District 4, Taborton FD and District 5, Town Hall.  

3. DEC has declared June 24 and 25 as “free” fishing days – no license required.  Come on out and catch a fish for dinner.

4. A reminder to please license your dog.  It is required by NYS Dept of Agriculture and Markets.  My office makes every effort to locate a licensed dog’s owner before taking it to a shelter.  Redeeming your dog after it’s gone to the shelter can be very expensive.  Fees are $100 for the 1st day and $70 for each day thereafter.  Rabies vaccination are required before a dog can be licensed.  

5. Senior Transportation for medical appointments and procedures is available from Rensselaer County Department for the Aging.  Please call ahead 518-270-2734 to reserve your place as soon as you know the date and time.

6. The Town of Sand Lake is partnering with Rensselaer County to hold a Household Hazardous Waste collection day Saturday, July 29th at the Schodack Highway Garage.  You MUST be registered to participate.  All information and a registration link are on our website:  townofsandlake.us.  Any questions?  Contact Ann Shaughnessy at 518-270-2888 or ashaughnessy@nullrensco.com.

7. The Sand Lake Building Department is very busy.  They are asking that all residents and contractors please call to make an appointment before stopping in.  The number is 518-674-2026 Ext. 116 for Mike Wager and Ext. 113 for Tim Lawrence.  

East Greenbush Town Hall and Highway Garage Closures for Upcoming Federal Holiday

Ellen Pangburn, Town Clerk, and Michelle Eckler, Deputy Clerk, would like to inform Town residents that the East Greenbush Town Hall and Highway Garage will both be closed on Monday, June 19th, 2023 for the federal holiday, Juneteenth.  

PLEASE NOTE:  On Monday the Town of East Greenbush Transfer Station is closed.  

If you need to reach someone during town closures, please call Dispatch at 518.479.2525.

Regular business hours for the Town of East Greenbush Town Hall and Highway Garage will resume on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023.

PRIMARY DAY POLLING LOCATIONS for the Town of North Greenbush residents. 

Primary Day is June 27, 2023.

All locations open @ 6:00 a.m. and close @ 9:00 p.m.

Districts 1,3,4 and 7, vote @ Town Hall, 2 Douglas Street.

Districts 2 & 6, vote @ Defreestville Fire House, 350 North Greenbush Road.

Districts 5 & 8, vote St. Michael’s Church, 175 Williams Road.

Councilman Jack Rogers Reports to the Town of North Greenbush

A Public Hearing was held to amend a two way stop to a four way stop intersection at Lenox Avenue and Dodge Street. This was approved and Local Law #4 of 2023 was adopted. 

Several resolutions were approved appointing one Police Officer, two part time Dispatchers, a Laborer, and a part time Court Officer. Welcome to North Greenbush Town service. 

The Town Board approved an agreement for a security detail with Tri City Valley Cats & North Greenbush Police Benevolent Association. 

In the matter of the town approving a Memorandum of Agreement regarding health, medical, and dental insurance with North Greenbush Police Benevolent Association. No changes were made and this met the board’s approval. 

The Board reviewed proposed salaries and hourly rates of various positions and approved those salary changes. Now salaries will be consistent with experience. 

The Town Board approved Summer and Beach staff for the 2023 summer at Snyder’s Lake. 

Approval was given for the the purchase of four Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) The AED’s will replace two existing devices and add two additional in town buildings. AED’s will be located in Town Hall, Town Court, the Beach and Highway Garage. Staff will receive CPR training. 

The Highway Superintendent has recommended that several town roads be paved this year. The Town Board approved his recommendations. 

The Town Board approved an emergency purchase for a 2023 dump truck,which will replace a 1998 truck at a cost of $298,436.

Hoosick Road Corridor Study – Online Public Workshop!

Town of Brunswick officials have announced an online workshop for the Hoosick Road Corridor Study, which will develop recommendations to reduce traffic congestion, improve safety and improve multimodal mobility on Hoosick Road from Lake Avenue in the City of Troy to Sweetmilk Creek Road in the Town of Brunswick. Residents are encouraged to view the presentation “at their own pace” and comment online at their own convenience during the following public review period:

June 5 – July 7, 2023. “Join at Your Own Pace”. www.hoosickroadstudy.com/public-input.

This first recorded online workshop presentation seeks public comments on existing transportation conditions in the area. Specific concerns and ideas for future improvements will be considered as the study progresses. Residents may speak directly with the project team outside Price Chopper Plaza at 716 Hoosick Road, Troy, NY from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Saturday, June 10, 2023.
