Tracey Rex Reports to the People of Schodack

I believe staying in touch with constituents is an important part of serving in elective office. This report is an example of my commitment to keeping Schodack residents informed about town government news and community events.

During May, the Town Board adopted the 2023 Road Program as proposed by the Superintendent of Highways Brian Brahm. Resurface with hot-mix asphalt on: Briarwood Drive, Ferndale Road, Huckleberry Road, Morey Park Hill, Morey Park Road, Old Coach Drive, Phillips Road, Sailors Lane, Simons Road, and portions of Burden Lake and Clove Road. Crack fill/single chip seal treatments shall be applied to: Bame Road, Irish Hill Road, Shufelt Road, and portion of Burden Lake Road (Route 150 to No. Schodack Road). Crack fill only to be applied to Sand Road. The program will be monitored throughout the season and additional improvements will be added if feasible.

The Town Board also approved the appointments of Ryan Condo, Justin Kelley and Michael Miller as officers of the Schodack Police Department. If you have an interest in serving our community as a Schodack Police Officer, please send a resume or letter of interest to recruitment@nullschodackpolice.com. The town is looking for lateral transfers, part-time officers and new hires. There is a Civil Service exam for Rensselaer County in September for those who would like to attend the academy.

Friendly reminder: Our 2023 Music in the Park Concert Series will be held on Tuesdays between May 30 and June 20, and from August 1 through August 15, beginning at 6:00 pm at Schodack Town Park.

I was honored to join our local elected officials in participating in the Castleton-on-Hudson/Schodack Memorial Day Parade. It was great to see people of all ages lining the streets to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Thank you to the parade organizers, participants and residents who came together to celebrate this important community event.

Tracey Rex, Schodack Town Councilwoman
