Defreestville Fire Department May Update
DEFREESTVILLE – The Defreestville Fire Department opens our May monthly update with the somber duty of extending condolences to the families of members Marty Bornhorst and Peter McKay, both of whom have passed in the past month.
Additionally, we extend our support and affection to the family of Randy French, who recently passed due to COVID-19 complications . Though not a DFD member, Randy’s contribution to public safety and wellness, both through the North Greenbush Ambulance Association and Troy Police Department, left an indelible mark on our area.
We hold them all in our prayers, wishing them strength in this challenging time.
According to Rensselaer County, there are currently 424 confirmed cases of (44 in North Greenbush) and 25 deaths attributable to the coronavirus, as of May 10th. There are 238 cases cleared for recovery throughout the county.
The Centers for Disease Control “advises the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.” According to their guidelines, face coverings should: fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face; be secured with ties or ear loops; include multiple layers of fabric; allow for breathing without restriction; and be able to be laundered and machine dried.
Previously, the DFD instituted social distancing, sanitizing, and face covering guidelines consistent with public health best practices. We remain committed to doing our part to #StopTheSpread.
