Elise is for Tax Cuts!

The inflation crisis caused by the Biden Administration has put a strain on all Americans, but especially here in New York where we have the highest tax burden of any State. The Democrats are not going to do anything to relieve this financial pressure that they put on us. In Fact, their tax policies will make it worse. Luckily, GOP congresswoman Elise Stefanik, has been committed to lobbying Albany into lowering our taxes and advocates for reforming the entire tax code of New York. This is important, now more than ever, as gas prices are going up; there is a shortage of basic necessities; and a devaluation of our money. We need someone on our side making sure we can weather this mess that the Biden administration put us in and as we wait for the inevitable Red Wave. Elise is that representative! She has kept her promise of never voting for a tax hike, she has proven time and time again that she is loyal to her constituents and not to New York bureaucrats or politicians. Every election is important, but this one is especially important. Us New Yorkers with our vote, need to secure someone who will work for us, and make sure we can afford to support ourselves and our loved ones. Elise is that person!

Like talking to a wall

As a lifelong Rensselaer County resident and veteran who believes in duty (what an out of date word that is today), responsibility, and accountability for “public servants,” it is encouraging to see a small handful of citizens in Rensselaer standing up for their families and children and community, but truth be told, if they somehow believe words about their plight with a DEC dump in their midst in the Advertiser, or the New York Times, for that matter, are going to move either Kathy Hochul, who fundraises off of corporations, not common citizens of Rensselaer, NY, or Basil Seggos of the DEC, who exists for the sole purpose of giving pleasure to Kathy Hochul if he wants to keep his job, being nothing more than a political appointee, sadly, they are mistaken.

To people like Kathy Hochul in her second floor office in the Capital in Albany, or Basil Seggos, in his penthouse office high atop the NYSDEC tower in Albany, where he can look down at us as if we were bugs and marvel at all the lives that are his to destroy over here in Rensselaer County with impunity, since he is literally above the law, and accountability, a true untouchable free to wreck our lives with abandon, we are as nothing at all, especially the children.

Why?

Because people accept that is the way things are, and so they are.

Case in point is Poestenkill and the PFAS in the water nobody hears a word about, anymore, as if it never happened.

We have been chosen, as has Rensselaer, to be the dumping ground for the better communities in the Capital District where people are not second-class citizens, and so it is our lot in life and our cross to bear having to live with contaminated drinking water, and if we don’t like it, well, we can always sell out and move to Clifton Park.

But in the meantime, while we are still here in Rensselaer County, we have to accept second-class citizenhood, and be quiet about it.

At least if one is in Poestenkill.

As to the people of Rensselaer, kudos!

Paul Plante, Poestenkill
