Brunswick Church Wants to Pray for You!

BRUNSWICK – On Thursday May 6th, Brunswick Church invites you to adjust your usual morning route and let a “prayer drive thru” (and a free coffee!) empower your day.  This “Prayer to Go” event will run from 7 am to 7 pm at Brunswick Church on Route 351 in Brunswick. Motorists are invited to stop briefly, receive a hot cup of coffee and allow us to pray for their concerns on the spot.  Whether it’s offering God praise for recent blessings or asking for a needed miracle, a friendly face will greet you and offer to pray for a few moments before bidding you a great day in the sure knowledge that you matter to God and to people in our community. No prayer is too small or too big. In fact, no details are needed at all.  So, drive right by your usual morning coffee run, and on May 6th, let Brunswick Church make your morning (or evening) drive-thru blessed.

We are the…. Tri-County Lutheran Parish

RENSSELAER COUNTY – We are an eight-point parish, located in three counties, Columbia, Greene and Rensselaer ranging from blue collar to professional.  The areas range from rural to bedroom communities. Congregations include: Columbia: Emanuel St. John’s, Hudson; Emanuel, Stuyvesant Falls; St. Luke’s, Valatie and Christ Our Emmanuel, Chatham Greene: Zion, Athens and St. Paul’s, Oak Hill Rensselaer: Trinity, Castleton-on-Hudson and St. Stephen’s, East Schodack.

The pastoral leadership serving the Tri-County Lutheran Parish are Pastor Samantha Perret, Pastor Beth George and Vicar Carolyn Lawrence.

Rev. Samantha Perret graduated from United Lutheran Seminary in May 2019 and answered the call to serve the Tri-County Lutheran Parish the following month.  Pastor Sam says “she is passionate about outreach, hearing peoples stories, and determining the needs of the community, and then seeing how we (the parish) can work together to love and serve our neighbors and meet those needs.” This is what all the followers of Jesus are called to do – “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)

Rev. Beth George says, “Since graduating from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, PA in 2004, I have worked to uplift those in need in our communities.  It is through the generous gift of God’s grace that I am in a position to help others and try to do so in gratitude to God.  I joined Tri-County Lutheran Parish in October of 2020 in the midst of this pandemic, so I’m still getting to know the communities and what services we may be able to provide.  I look forward to being an active community member and serving the call of the Church.”

Vicar Carolyn Lawrence was born, raised, and went to seminary in the Midwest, and has been greatly enjoying her year in Upstate New York!  Relationship building and community service is important to her as ways to share the love of Christ with all those she meets.

Have You Ever Said….?

RENSSELAER COUNTY – “I don’t know the Bible stories well enough to talk to people about faith”? Have you forgotten some of those stories you learned back in Sunday School? Or are you new to the faith and finding some of the stories confusing? In Bible Study, we will be going back to the basics to examine some major Bible stories! We will listen to the stories, hear what God is doing in the story, see how these stories impact our own lives and make God’s story our own.

The TCLP clergy team will take turns leading and hosting this new study. We will meet on Zoom Mondays at 7pm and Tuesdays at 10am and Live Tuesdays at 10am at St. Lutheran Church, 1010 Kinderhook St., Valatie, 12184.
