Kailey’s Course Golf Tournament
14 year old Kailey Paul was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. As you can imagine this has taken a toll on Kailey and her family both emotionally and financially. All the money raised will go towards the expense for the the family’s stay in NYC and offset the cost of medical bills while she is going through radiation and chemotherapy.

East Greenbush CSD and Sorensco Team Up for Field Improvements
The East Greenbush Central School District and Sorensco Baseball have teamed up to make critical improvements to the baseball field adjacent to Howard L. Goff Middle School.
The school district contributed $19,240 in materials, including sod for the infield, clay for the pitcher’s mound, drainage pipe and sand, and new bases and home plate to ensure the field is brought to “a safe and playable condition,” according to Sorensco’s proposal. Sorensco provided the labor for the project.
“This project is exciting for the East Greenbush and surrounding baseball community. The field looks spectacular and will be much safer to play on,” said Sorensco President Andy Garrigan. “Sorensco is very grateful for the school district and all of our sponsors for helping to make this happen.”
The property is owned by the school district and used by school, recreation and travel baseball teams. Sorensco estimates that more than 100 games and 100 practices are played on the field each season.
“I am pleased that we were able to partner with Sorensco to upgrade the field, enhance safety and improve field conditions for the players,” said Superintendent Jeff Simons. “At the encouragement of our board of education, we support these types of collaborative projects with our community partners because they make perfect sense as we serve the same kids and taxpayers.”
The Sorensco baseball field is currently closed as the new grass establishes roots. It is expected to reopen in Spring 2023.
The school district has contributed to upgrades at the baseball/softball complex in the past. In 2017, the school district paid for a new paved parking lot.
STRIDE Adaptive Sports Names Dave Graham 2022 Volunteer of the Year
Dave Graham serves as Program Leader for STRIDE’s Tennis Program. Dave began his journey with STRIDE in 2010 when he was looking for a sports program for his son who has autism. After positive experiences he and his son had with STRIDE, Dave agreed to take over STRIDE ‘s tennis program which was a fledgling summer event. He created a tennis curriculum and format for individuals with disabilities including wheelchair tennis players that emphasizes basic fundamental tennis skills while providing the opportunity for social interaction and a place to have fun! After over a decade of stellar service, with the advent of a pandemic, Dave rose to the occasion to teach STRIDE tennis players with disabilities that they can have fun and play the game even while at home during quarantine by making fun videos for virtual skill development. When it became reasonably safe to return to in-person play, he got our program back on the courts. He has fantastic volunteer assistance too, his father David Senior, wife Michelle, daughter Rory, and a number of HS students which help make the program run seamlessly.
“STRIDE is so thankful for Dave’s leadership and sharing his passion for the sport of tennis. He has taken a small fledgling program and built it to become a mainstay for STRIDE athletes to learn beginning through competition tennis skills. His dedication to STRIDE athletes has been transformative for our program,” said STRIDE CEO Mary Ellen Whitney.
Rensselaer Elks Lodge #2073 Hosts Golf Tournament to Support Vets
Rensselaer Elks Lodge #2073 hosted 88 golfers for the first annual Rocky Prinzo Golf Tournament at Olde Kinderhook Golf Club in Valatie, NY.
The event honored a long time Elk, beloved bartender, and friend and in the process raised $6,300 to donate to the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center’s General Fund to help Veterans in need.
