Tracey Rex Reports to the People of Schodack
I believe staying in touch with constituents is an important part of serving in elective office. This report, published every month since I took office in 2016, is an example of my commitment to keeping Schodack residents informed about town government news and community events.
During May, the Town Board approved the 2022 Road Program. Roads scheduled to be resurfaced with hot-mix asphalt are Bellwood Lane, Champagne Drive, Clearview Boulevard, Crescent Drive, Hillcrest Avenue, Lakeside Drive, Michael Road, Park Place, Castleridge Road, and Ridgeview Circle. Crack fill/single chip seal treatments will be applied on Boyce Road, East Hill Road, Garrison Hill Road, Hoags Corners Road, McClellan Road, Old Post Road South, Rohloff Road, Sultan Lane, and Waterbury Road.
The Town Board accepted the audit reports performed and submitted by the Town Comptroller for Justice Court, Petty Cash funds, Building Department funds, and Town Clerk funds for fiscal year 2021.
A friendly reminder that our 2022 Music in the Park Concert Series will be held on Tuesdays between June 7 and July 5, and from August 2 through August 16 beginning at 6:00 pm at our Town Park located on Poyneer Road. This year’s schedule includes an additional three concerts.
Our annual Document Shredder Day will be held on Saturday, July 23 at Schodack Town Hall from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity to have their confidential documents safely shredded at no cost (3-box maximum per household).
I was honored to join our local elected officials in participating in the Castleton-on-Hudson/Schodack Memorial Day Parade. It was great to see people of all ages lining the streets to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Thank you to the parade organizers, volunteers, participants, and residents who came together to celebrate this important community event.

Sand Lake News from Barbara Hansen, Town Clerk
1. A Rabies Clinic is scheduled for June 25 at Troy Department of Public Works Central Garage, 40 Orr Street, Troy, NY 12180. You must register in advance. There is a link to register is on the Town’s website or call Rensco Health Department at 518-270-2643 for assistance.
2. NYS has instituted a Paint Recycling Program as of May 1st. Sand Lake residents can bring leftover paint in covered paint cans to the Convenience Facility on Chamberlin Hill Road. No permit is required. The program is being funded by a surcharge added to the purchase of paint.
3. We are not issuing Beach passes yet. Councilman Gendron is in the processing of hiring lifeguards and beach aides and will have an opening date and hours as soon as this is completed.
4. Town Hall will be closed Monday June 20th in observance of Juneteenth, and Monday July 4th to celebrate Independence Day.
5. NYS DEC has designated June 25 & 26, September 24 and November 11 as free fishing days, no license required.
6. Music in the Park will kick off its 2022 season at Butler Park starting with Whiskey Highway on July 7th. Concerts will be every Thursday from July 7 – August 25. Music starts at 6:30, come early to get a good seat. There will be a variety of food trucks each week. Parking will be at the High School and Bus Garage.

Schodack Supervisor’s Report for May 2022
Spring seemed to fly by and the Summer is off to a fast start. As a reminder, Our “Music in the Park” concert series kicked off this past Tuesday, June 7th. Concerts are held from 6-8pm at our Town Park Pavilion on Tuesdays with rain dates being the following Wednesday. Please check our website, social media, or contact the Town Hall for a complete listing of dates and bands.
With summer too comes the start of our road program. The Town Board recently adopted the Highway Superintendent’s road program and work has already begun. Our roads are the most direct connection with their local government most of our residents will ever have and I assure you their improvement and maintenance is one of my top priorities.
After years of dedicated service to Schodack, we have seen several of our long-time employees retire over the past few months. Additionally, we are aware of several others who within the next year are considering the same. Upon each of these vacancies, I have worked alongside the Town Board to examine our workforce structure and modify positions to make hires that we feel will not only best serve our residents now, but also our needs in the future.
One vacancy we have just filled is the position of Sole Assessor. The Town Board examined several options for how to proceed, whether it be a full-time or part-time assessor and potential staffing needs that both options would require. After our discussions, we determined continuing with a full-time assessor provided the best service to our residents. With that, I’m happy to announce that Bill Morgan will be joining Schodack in June as our new assessor. Bill is a lifelong resident of Schodack and comes to us with 20+ years of experience. Welcome aboard Bill.
And finally i want to thank everyone who helped plan, participated, or attended the Castleton-Schodack Memorial Day parade. It was great to see everyone back in person. Special thanks to Jayne Robinson and her crew for a great job planning this event each year.
