Schodack Supervisor’s report for April 2022
While the forecast had threatened rain, an overwhelming crowd and the sun came out instead on April 17th as the Town of Schodack held its inaugural Easter Egg Hunt at the Schodack Town Park. Park Manager Kevin Konig and his assistant Bob Rivet had the park in immaculate shape as our small team of volunteers spent the morning decorating the pavilion and hiding over 2,000 treat filled eggs for the roughly 200 kids who came to take part. Once again, just absolutely blown away with the unbelievable turnout and enthusiasm for this event, especially this being its first year. I want to again thank the Town Board for their support of this idea and help bringing it to a reality, Kevin Konig for his tireless efforts to improve our park and help overseeing the event, and to my assistant Dawne Kelly, Town Clerk Deb Curtis, my wife Cathleen and mother Jan, and volunteers Melissa Logrippo and Jennifer Schanck for their efforts and assistance leading up to and during the egg hunt. A special thank you to Officers Herrick and Dickson for providing a special entrance for our guest of honor, The Easter Bunny. Speaking of the bunny, a special shout out to Park Manager Kevin Konig’s daughter, Sarah, for playing a central role in making the day complete for so many of the little ones.
This is just the start of an expanded lineup of events and new traditions I would like to see offered for our residents and families to enjoy. If you would like to lend a hand or offer suggestions of things you would like to see Schodack do for our families, I am looking to develop a youth committee/advisory group and ask that you please send your contact information along to me at Charles.peter@nullschodack.org.
Additionally, to keep up to date on events and things happening in our park, please follow the newly created “Town of Schodack Parks and Grounds” page on Facebook. We have a lot of exciting things planned for our park in the coming months and look forward to seeing you there.
Tracey Rex Reports to the People of Schodack
I believe staying in touch with constituents is an important part of serving in elective office. This report, published every month since I took office in 2016, is an example of my commitment to keeping Schodack residents informed about town government news and community events.
During April, the Town Board appointed Jose Martinez as part-time Confidential Assistant to the Chief of Police, Lynne Torello as Acting Dog Control Officer, and Kevin Konig as full-time Park/Grounds Manger. Welcome, Jose, Lynne and Kevin.
The Town Board honored Carol Wilkinson who was recently named the winner of the Capital Region’s 2022 Remarkable Women contest. Carol — a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who volunteers at her church and at Kiwanis fundraisers — was the first woman to join the Castleton Volunteer Ambulance Squad in 1977 as a nurse. Her application letter is still a part of the squad’s historic archive. Congratulations, Carol, on your well-deserved honor and recognition.
Congratulations to Rick Hiller who was honored by the Town Board upon his retirement after 25 years of dedicated service to the Schodack Highway Department. Enjoy retirement, Rick.
Our annual Spring Clean-Up Days will be held on May 12, 13 and 14 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During these days, items that normally have a fee can be brought to the Transfer Station for free or at a reduced charge.

It was great to see so many children and families enjoying the town’s first Easter Egg Hunt held at Town Park. The children were especially excited to see the Easter Bunny arrive at the park with a police escort. We look forward to enjoying this new tradition for many years to come.

I am pleased to announce that the Town of North Greenbush will be having our Memorial Day Parade this year.
The parade will be Monday, May 30, 2022 @ 1:30 P.M. After 2 long years of the COVID Pandemic the town is excited to invite all to participate in the parade. If you or your group are interested in participating in this year’s parade you may email the Deputy Supervisor, Kelly Hoffman or Councilwoman Merola, who are coordinating the 2022 parade participants and line up. The Town Clerk’s office would like to let all North Greenbush residents who are receiving or renewing a Permanent or Temporary Parking Permit of the new changes in the process of obtaining a (handicap) tag. You will now need to bring your driver’s license or non-driver’s license with you to obtain your tag.
We will now place the last 3 digits of your license’s number on all tags you receive. If you should have any questions on this process, please do not hesistate to call the office @ 518-283-4306, Monday thru Friday between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and I will be happy to assist you in any way that I can.
