Poestenkill Town Board Meeting Minutes

Poestenkill Town Board – Meeting Minutes – Thursday, March 10, 2022

Public comment – A town resident asked for an update on the PFOA/PFAS contamination. The resident understands that the Town is considering the expansion of the water district and requests the water district extend to Weatherwax Road (b/t Snyders Corners and Route 66). Another resident requested that the water district be extended to Pleasant Hill Drive.

A town resident asked about $90,000 in connection to a bond payment to the Town of Brunswick for the existing water district. 

A member of the CCCDW asked the Supervisor and Water Manager to work with the County and State to notify residents surrounding DSI of the companies PFOA/PFOS results.

Motion by Councilman Hass, seconded by Councilwoman Butler to approve the contract between the Town of Poestenkill and the Poestenkill Fire Company for fire protection services for 2022 and 2023, passed 4 to 1, with Councilman Wohlleber voting no. 

Motion by Councilman Wohlleber, seconded by Councilman Van Slyke to appoint Tom Russell as Chairman of the Planning Board, passed 4-1, with Supervisor Hammond, voting no. 

Motion made by Councilman Hass, seconded by Councilwoman Butler to pay for a mailing to town residents of upcoming public meetings in regards to Covid funding passed 4-1, with Councilman Wohlleber voting no. 

These minutes to be approved at the next Town Board Meeting on Thursday, April 14 at 7pm. Please note that Town Board Meetings are now held on the second Thursday of each month.

Rensselaer County Legislature Chairwoman Kelly Hoffman Announces Earth Day Poster Contest

Earth Day is just around the corner and Chairwoman Kelly Hoffman is proud to announce that the Rensselaer County Legislature will once again be holding an Earth Day Poster Contest. 

This popular contest is open to all county residents in grades K-6. 

Entries will be judged by the members of the Legislature and they will be looking for creativity, originality, and artistic quality. Students are encouraged to illustrate how they see Earth Day or how they feel about a particular environmental issue.

Each student can submit only one poster that is no larger than 22 x 30 inches.

Entries can be mailed to the Rensselaer County Environmental Management Council, Rensselaer County Office Building, 1600 Seventh Avenue Troy, New York 12180, or dropped off at the Legislature Majority Office on the third floor of the County Office Building.

All entries must be received by April 29th and include the student’s name, address, school, grade, and contact information on the back of the poster. Please call the Environmental Management Council at (518) 270-2888 for more information.

First place winners in each category will receive $50 gift cards, and Second place finishers will receive $25 gift cards.

I am pleased to announce that the Town of North Greenbush will be having our Memorial Day Parade this year. 

The parade will be Monday, May 30, 2022 @ 1:30 P.M. After 2 long years of the COVID Pandemic the town is excited to invite all to participate in the parade. If you or your group are interested in participating in this year’s parade you may email the Deputy Supervisor, Kelly Hoffman or Councilwoman Merola, who are coordinating the 2022 parade participants and line up. Poestenkill Spring Brush Clean Up

The Town of Poestenkill Highway Dept will be around the week of April 25th to April 29th for brush clean up. Please have items out by April 24th. Acceptable items include yard waste (leaves, grass clippings, etc.) placed in biodegradable paper bags; brush and branches cut to 8 ft. lengths, maximum of 3 ft. high and maximum diameter of 6 inches (if we can’t chip it, we can’t take it). The Town Clerk’s office would like to let all North Greenbush residents who are receiving or renewing a Permanent or Temporary Parking Permit of the new changes in the process of obtaining a (handicap) tag. You will now need to bring your driver’s license or non-driver’s license with you to obtain your tag. 

We will now place the last 3 digits of your license’s number on all tags you receive. If you should have any questions on this process, please do not hesistate to call the office @ 518-283-4306, Monday thru Friday between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and I will be happy to assist you in any way that I can.

Town Garage Sale

EAST GREENBUSH – The Town of East Greenbush will host the annual Town Wide Garage Sale on Saturday, April 23rd from 8:00AM-Dusk. Pre-Registration is ONLY required if you would like to be included on the official program for the event.
