Fall Birding: Homeschool Series with Dyken Pond EEC

Grafton – Friday November 5: 10am-12pm  Learn how to set up and monitor a bird feeding area at home. Leave with the confidence and curriculum to engage youth in the observation and study of birds. Learn what makes a bird a bird, how to identify common birds and how to design experiments leading to hours of home engagement. $5 suggested donation per youth. Aquatic Mammal Walk at Dyken Pond EEC

GRAFTON – Saturday, November 13: 10am  Hike to Newcomb Pond, one of Dyken Pond’s prettiest and most secluded wetlands. Learn about the otters and beavers who live in this special area. Preregistration required. All ages welcome but must be able to hike about 3 miles at a moderate pace. Approximately 2 hours round trip. $2 per person. Tremendous Trees Day: Homeschool Series with Dyken Pond EEC

Mindful Nature Walk at Dyken Pond EEC

GRAFTON – Saturday, November 20: 10am-12pm  Join Sandy Wilson from Spirit of Dragonflies, LLC to celebrate the wonders of the outdoors! Called Shinrin-Yoku  where it originated in Japan, it is the wellness practice of being in the present moment and opening up our senses. This type of slow walking ‘sauntering’, deep breathing, present-centered awareness, and observation in nature is shown to reduce stress, boost our moods, and strengthen our immune systems. AP Youth Basketball Senior League 2021-22 Season

AVERILL PARK – Averill Park Youth Basketball is excited to announce that we plan on participating in the Capital District Boys CYO Sr League 21-22 Season for Grades 9-10 and Grades 11-12. The team selections/evaluations will take place on Saturday November 20th at Algonquin Middle School. Grade 9-10 will be from 2:00 – 3:30 and Grades 11-12 will be from 3:30 – 5:00. It’s important we get a gauge as to how many boys are interested, so please send us an email at apyouthbasketball@nullgmail.com with your sons’ information. Games will start the weekend of Dec 4-5 and will be played on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon/evenings throughout the Winter. Locations and times of games have yet to be determined. We are in need of a Coach for the 9-10 team so please email us if you are interested. We will not be able to field a 9-10 team without a Coach. How Animals Prepare for Winter at Dyken Pond EEC

GRAFTON –  Saturday, November 20: 1pm-2:30pm – Take a short hike exploring the forest for signs of animals preparing for winter. Learn what animals call our forest their home and how they prepare to survive the colder months. All ages. $2 per person. Hike to Grandfather Rock the Glacial Erratic at Dyken Pond EEC 

Saturday, Nov. 27: 1pm – 3pm – Hike to Dyken Pond’s largest glacial deposit and learn about the role glaciers played in helping form our landscape. Tuesday Treksat Dyken Pond EEC

GRAFTON – Every Tuesday 12:30 – 2:30  Join Len Tremblay on a moderately paced 3 mile hike every Tuesday in November to explore the wilds of Dyken Pond Center. Learn the trail system one at a time with a knowledgeable guide. Each week we’ll discover new ground and nature. Hikes will be cancelled in bad weather. This program is for adults and older teens.
