Beginner Basket Weaving at Thacher Visitor Center

VOORHEESVILLE – Saturday, February 29, at 10:00a.m. Learn to weave a basket with artisan and teacher Karin Kuck. Your finished basket will serve as a great introduction to weaving techniques that are the foundation of basket construction. You will leave with a useable 5” x 5” basket that you’ll be proud to display in your home or give as a gift. The course fee of $40 includes all materials. Mindfulness in the Outdoors

RENSSELAER COUNTY – Saturday, February 29: 1pm – 3pm Get outside. Go Within. Quietly sauntering in the woods in a state of mindful awareness allows you to connect with nature, reduce stress, breathe fresh air, gently move your body, relax your mind and renew your spirit. We will combine sauntering, forest bathing, meditation, journaling/drawing, and end with a tea ceremony. During this experience you will be guided through the process of slowing down and becoming aware of your surroundings. Techniques will be shared on how bring this gift into your daily life. $5. Nature Art Show Opening at Thacher Nature Center

 VOORHEESVILLE – Saturday, March 7, 1:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. Come and be inspired by the works of talented local artists. The exhibit will feature nature-inspired artwork in a variety of media including watercolors, oils, photography, clay, fiber, and wood. Meet the artists and enjoy complimentary refreshments. The Nature Art Exhibit will be on display at the Nature Center until March 28, Tuesday through Sunday, 9am – 5pm, we are closed on Mondays. Call 518-872-0800 for more information.

Home Waters Chapter 586 of Trout Unlimited Monthly Meeting

GRAFTON – Home Waters Chapter of Trout Unlimited is holding their monthly meeting on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 6:00 PM at the Grafton Lakes State Park Welcome Center, which is located at the end of the main parking lot. Paint a Serene River Scene at Thacher Nature Center

VOORHEESVILLE – Saturday, March 14, 10a.m. – 3:30p.m. Create an oil painting of a serene river scene with local accomplished artist and teacher Karen Woodin. Participants of all skill levels will receive instructions on various oil painting techniques and complete their own 18 x 18 oil painting to take home. Course fee of $75 includes all materials.
