Final Weekend for Laughter on the 23rd Floor

Sand Lake Center for the Arts presents the final weekend of Laughter on the 23rd Floor, written by Neil Simon and directed by Melanie Douglas. The play is based on Neil Simon’s experiences as a junior writer of a TV Comedy-Variety show called “Your Show of Shows”, and is set in 1953.The play follows the host, Max Prince, along with the his staff of writers in scenes behind the scenes, to bring you a highly entertaining play! Show dates are Dec. 12, 13, 14, at 8pm. and the 15th at 2:30pm. Tickets are Adults $18. and under 18 is $10. Prepaid reservations can be made at www.slca-ctp.org or call the office at 518-674-2007. The center is handicapped accessible with plenty of free parking.

Come to the Averill Park Community Orchestra Holiday Concert!

You are invited to celebrate the season with the Averill Park Community Orchestra at our upcoming holiday concert! The performance is on Saturday, December 14 at 3:00 PM at the Averill Park High School. At this event, you can hear local community musicians of all ages perform seasonal favorites, as well as beautiful music by composers such as Vaughn Williams and Rimsky-Korsakov, fun selections like Take Five and A Charlie Brown Christmas, and a medley of tunes from “Guys and Dolls.” There is no admission fee, but any donations to help offset our costs is greatly appreciated. You are welcome to remain afterward to enjoy refreshments and interact with the musicians. (Note: In the event of a weather cancellation, we will perform the program the next day on December 15 at 4:00PM.) New This Year: Oakwood Christmas Concert Includes 2 Seatings and a Tree Show on Saturday December 14th 2 seatings – 11am and 2pm Snow Date Sunday December 15th same times

$5.00 per person Children under 12 Free Reservations required by Thursday December 12th. Call 518-328-0090 Specify which seating, name, phone, how many people including children.

Enjoy the beauty of the Earl Chapel and its excellent acoustics as you listen to seasonal songs by the Highlight Acting Troupe. Sing along with your favorites then sip some warm cider and nibble on Christmas cookies. A jolly man in a red suit may even stop in!

This year there will also be a display of cleverly themed Christmas trees. An Old Fashioned Christmas, Pets, By the Sea, Birds, and a Patriotic tree are just a few examples of the trees decorated by the Friends of Oakwood.

In keeping with the spirit of the season, we are asking that you bring an unwrapped item to help our local Veterans. Anything new and non-perishable, such as toiletries, towels, socks, underwear, gloves, hats etc will be greatly appreciated. The donations will be brought to the Veterans Miracle Center in Albany.

The Friends of Oakwood is a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer group working to support the preservation and maintenance of the non-sectarian chapel and grounds of Troy’s still-active historic 19th C. Oakwood Cemetery. New volunteers are always welcome.

Christmas is coming to Sand Lake Center for the Arts with our special guests Brian Melick and Kevin McKrell, accompanied by the Mountain Snow Orchestra, as they bring you their famous Christmas Concert on December 17 at 7pm. This family friendly Christmas Concert celebrates the holiday season with fun, laughter and joy along with good times through the magic of music! Poestenkill Light Reading Company Presents “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens

A free reading performance. Make this year’s Christmas special and come to a light reading performance of “A Christmas Carol” at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 772 Route 351, Poestenkill, NY 12140 on Sunday, December 15th, 2019 starting with a “Bread & Soup” light dinner at 4 pm and the reading performance following at 5 pm.

This program is for the benefit of the “Bread of Life” Food Pantry and the “Union Gospel” Food Pantry. Monetary contributions or donations of non-perishable food items are welcome.

Calling all Kids, come have breakfast with Santa on Dec 21 at SLCA

Calling all kids! Come enjoy breakfast with Santa at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts on Saturday, December 21. First seating at 8:30 AM, and Second seating at 11:30 AM. Come meet Santa and have your picture taken along with decorating an ornament and cookie, plus coloring activities and more. Tickets $8. For children. Tickets must be purchased by December 20.
