The Book Nook at Transfiguration Parish on Hillview Drive in Speigletown is open again on July 6 from 9:00 am until noon. There have been a lot of new donations so please come by and see what’s new! The July half-priced specials are on Fern Michaels, James Patterson and Jonathan Kellerman. As always, the history, biographies, cookbooks, religious, self-help are all 6/$1. School will be out by July and so to keep your kids reading, all children and young adult books are 10/$1 this month. Stop by and check us out. Please no VHS tapes, textbooks or encyclopedias. Dollar Bingo Mondays in July

Rensselaer County’s Hoosick Falls Senior Center at 69 Church Street, Hoosick Falls, will continue Dollar Bingo the first 4 Mondays in the month of July starting at 10:30. Participants should bring a wrapped $1.00 mystery item to be used as a prize. Items can be practical, funny, edible, or whatever you wish to give. A limited supply of $1 items will be available for purchase at the center. Please plan to stay for a nutritious lunch at noon. Call the center at 518-686-7561 to be added to the lunch list. All residents 60 and older are invited to attend this fun event.

Archaeological Dig On Elm Street 

Thurs. 7/11 & Fri. 7/12 2-7pm Sat. 7/13 10am-4pm

Learn about the history beneath your feet! An Archeological Dig will be happening on 20 Elm Street in Nassau and you can be a part of it! There will be hour-long youth sessions beginning at 2pm on both Thursday & Friday to look, explore, and ask questions of on-site experts. Sign up through the library to reserve your spot for the Thursday or Friday of the dig. Saturday’s dig is open to the public. This event is hosted by the Nassau Village Bicentennial & the Town of Nassau Historic Preservation Committee. Call the Nassau Free Library to reserve your spot. (518)766-2715.

Grafton Merry Makers

The July meeting of the Grafton merrymakers will take place on July 12th at 5:30 pm at the Everett Wager Senior Center, Grafton, NY.

The evening will start with a covered dish at 5:30 pm followed by our monthly meeting at 6:15 pm. We will play bingo after the meeting. Capital Dist. Chapter of the Embroider’s Guild of America

Do you enjoy needlework? Would you like to stitch with others that have similar interests? Whether you are a beginner or have experience, come join us. The NY Capital District Chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America meets in various locations and at various times. The Day Group meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month at Blooming Grove Reformed Church in Defreetsville. Evening meetings are offered in two locations: The Community Room at The Terrace at Beverwyck in Slingerlands from 7p-9p on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month and from 6:30p-9p in the Fellowship Hall of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Clifton Park on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month.
