Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

The Rensselaer Elks Lodge will be having a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for Richard Lasher. Richard Lasher Jr. is a 47-year-old lifelong resident of Nassau, and a self-employed carpenter. Richard has a brain stem tumor caused by an extremely rare disease called Meningioma. He has endured 2 previous brain surgeries which has left him with some eye and facial deformities. Richard needs future surgery and rehabilitation at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady. 100% of monetary donations for this event will assist Richard and his family with costly medical expenses.

When: Saturday, November 10th, 4-7pm

Adults $10, Children $7, under 5 Free.

Nassau Library Harvest Fest

The Friends of the Nassau Free Library will hold the first annual Harvest Fest on Saturday, November 10, at the Nassau Free Library, 18 Church Street, Nassau. Come enjoy the music with the Kitchen Kaylie Band, purchase baked goods, canned goods, pick up preordered frozen pies and see the new Harry Potter quilt which will be raffled off in 2019. This event will include a book sale, cider and apple cider donuts for a small donation. The time is 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and the preordered, frozen pies are; Apple, Peach, Blueberry, Raspberry, Cherry and Very Berry (10”, 8” or 6”). These can be ordered at the library, through Friends’ members and by printing and mailing an order form from the library web site: www.nassaufreelibrary.org. Funds raised support the Friends of the Nassau Free Library. Come celebrate the Harvest and support your library!

 

Holiday Bazaar at Zion’s UCC of Taborton

Come for the BEST APPLE PIES around at the Holiday Bazaar at Zion’s United Church of Christ of Taborton, on Saturday, November 10th, 10 AM to 3 PM. Barb Southard and our church baking crew have become famous! We invite you to pick up a freshly, frozen pie or two, just pop it in the oven, your house will smell so good for your holiday guests, and you didn’t have to peel all those apples!! Other great baked goods for sale also.

Because it is a Bazaar, each year we have new and different items for sale, you don’t know what you’ll find, some of everything. Crafts, holiday items new and old items. After shopping at the many “gift” tables, you won’t go away hungry. Crock pots of homemade soups and chili, tuna boats, hot dogs and beverages will be available.

Before you leave, why not have a piece of delicious apple pie with or without ice cream. Upstairs a Christmas Store and Children’s arts and crafts activities. The church is also known for our beautiful pieced bed Quilts. Raffle Quilt for this Holiday Bazaar by Linda Bondi. Many other great raffle items, dinners and services also. Fellowship Hall is Handicapped accessible at 741 Taborton Road, Sand Lake.

 

“Not Your Ordinary Cookie Event”
Sunday, November 11th, at the Hoags Corners Fire House (7237 Route 66), East Nassau will host the Fifth Annual Village of East Nassau Cookie Contest to benefit beautification projects including our Bell Park, Village Green, and projects for Hoag’s Corners. As in the past, there will be plenty of wonderful free cookies and Stewart’s ice cream for all; local entertainment as well as Chinese and regular auctions of outstanding items donated by nearby merchants and restaurants. The event serves as a wonderful start of the holiday season featuring outstanding and unique gifts. Doors will open at 1:00. Come and celebrate the start of our 20th year as a village. Craft Fair/Tag Sale

Vendors Needed

The West Sand Lake Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a Craft Fair/Tag Sale on Saturday, November 17th, in the WSL fire hall from 9am-3pm.  If you are interested in selling any homemade, handmade, or gently used items, we are happy to provide a table for $25. You keep your profits and the money from tables will go to benefit the West Sand Lake firefighters.  If you would like to be a vendor, please contact Carrie Deutsch at 518-674-5309.

 

DPS 10th Annual Brown Bag Auction

The PTO will hold its 10th Annual Brown Bag Auction on Saturday, November 17th, 2018, held at Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School in Nassau. Please join us for our auction. Doors will open at 4:30pm and the auction will begin at 5:30. We are very excited about this event as it has always been a huge success.

We need your help once again with the donation of items. Donated items must be new, unused and in original package, if possible. Examples of donated items: Kids toys, hats, scarves, gloves, candles, home décor and gift certificates. Bluegrass Gospel Music by Jericho Road

An evening with Jericho Road, a bluegrass gospel group, will be held at Church of the Covenant, UM (the Round Church), 3055 NY 43, Averill Park, on Saturday, November 10, at 7:00 pm.  This concert is open to the public at no charge.  Light refreshments will be served.  A free will offering will be accepted.

Valley Falls UMC Art Show

The Valley Falls United Methodist Church will be holding the 3rd Annual Fine Arts Show on Saturday, November 10, from 1 PM to 4 PM.  The show will feature area artists and their artwork.  There will be an artists’ reception during the show, and the public is welcome to vote for a “People’s Choice” award.  Admission to the show is free.  The Valley Falls United Methodist Church is located at 16 State Street, Valley Falls, NY, and is handicapped accessible.

 

 

 

Pine Bush Perspectives Exhibit Opening

On Friday November 30th, from 6-7:30pm, join us for the unveiling of this year’s juried photo exhibit, celebrating the uniqueness and diversity of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. Browse this year’s show and see some amazing photos all taken in the Albany Pine Bush.  Juror selected awards will be presented and light snacks will be provided. All ages.

Hudson-Mohawk Weavers’ Guild 40th Annual Show & Sale

Vendor Fair

The Community Hose Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a Vendor Fair on Saturday, November 10, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in East Greenbush (163 Columbia Turnpike). There will be a wide variety of crafts and vendors representing products like Tupperware and Pampered Chef for your shopping pleasure!  The kitchen will be open serving breakfast and lunch.

 

Chinese Auction

The Nassau American Legion Auxiliary Unit #1268 will be holding their annual Chinese Auction on Saturday, November 10th, at St. Mary’s Church hall, 26 Church Street in Nassau. Doors open at noon to give you time to browse thru the great prizes donated by local merchants and friends. Auction will begin at 1:30pm. Baked goods and refreshments will be available for purchase. Christmas Bazaar

The Reformed Dutch Church of Schodack at Muitzeskill will be holding its annual

Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, December 1st, from 10am-2pm. The Church is located at the intersection of Schodack Landing Road & Muitzeskill Road, in Schodack Landing.  The Christmas Bazaar will include new and gently used Christmas decorations, cards, gifts, and books, as well as a Luncheon Cafe and a Bake Sale.

Festival of Trees

Festival of Trees at the former Grafton Elementary School. Invitation to participate: decorate a 2 to 8-foot, Christmas Tree (artificial trees only), trees may be dropped off December 3-7, 2018. Trees may be traditional or completely original, no taller than eight feet and should be in place by December 7. Local businesses, organizations and individual community members are invited to participate, prizes will be awarded, categories for prizes will be; Best of Festival, Business/Organization, Kids and Adults. Festival of Trees Holiday Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, December 8, from 10:00 – 3:00 p.m., there will be entertainment and refreshments. Winners will be announced December 8th at 2:45. Holiday Bazaar

Center Brunswick United Methodist Church, located at 990 Hoosick Rd., is having a Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, December 1st, from 10am to 6pm. Repair Café

What do you do with a broken lamp? Or a sweater with a hole? Toss it? No way! The Village of Castleton-on-Hudson is hosting its next Repair Café at the Village Hall, 85 South Main Street, on Saturday, November 10th, from 11 AM to 3 PM. People visiting the Repair Café bring along their broken but beloved items. Volunteers try their best to make repairs, and it’s free of charge! Do you like to fix things and want to volunteer? Miracle on 34th Street Performance

The Highlight Acting Troupe will be presenting Miracle on 34th Street. The comedy-drama was adapted by Mountain Community Theater from the novel by Valentine Davis.  The show is directed by Ethel LeVan assisted by Christine LeVan.

The performance dates are Friday, November 30th, and Saturday, December 1st, at 7:30 pm and Sunday, December 2nd, at 2 pm. Performances are held at the Brunswick Grange, 7 Grange Rd. (intersection of Rt. 7 and 142). A little girl discovers dreams do come true if you believe. Susan has doubts about childhood’s most enduring miracle – Santa Claus. Her mother told her the “secret” about Santa, so Susan doesn’t expect to receive the most important

BUNCO Party

Join us on Saturday, November 17th, at South Schodack Fire Company, Inc., located at 1563 Bame Rd., Castleton. The South Schodack Auxiliary will be hosting a Bunco Party! Doors open at 6pm, and the game starts at 6:30pm. “BUNCO” is a game played with dice. It is a fun way of bringing the whole family together.
