Glendora Vegetarian Club

A man in the White House saw a gold phone and was told he could talk to God. He called and talked to God for 3 minutes, then asked, “What do I owe you?”

He was told, “$300.”

A month later he was transferred to Israel. There he saw a gold phone and talked to God for 3 minutes, then asked, “How much do I owe you?”

He was told, “$3.”

He said, “In the Oval Office, it cost $300!”

“Over here it’s a local call.”

Join us vegans the last Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. at 45 Elm Street in the Village of Nassau. Bring a potluck dish – no animal products.

In the book Eat Vegan with Me, Mary Lawrence, a close friend of Glendora, lists perceived obstacles to becoming vegan. One obstacle is that one could not get enough protein. Actually, nuts and grains provide more protein than meat. When you eat meat you are getting your protein secondhand. Another obstacle mentioned is that a vegan diet is boring. If you find it boring, it is your own fault. You are not making the right choices, just as you are not making the right choices when you choose animal products. Ms. Lawrence urges committed vegans to keep the conversation going, and slowly others will come around to accepting the vegan diet.
