The Kiwanis Club of Troy is having their annual Giffy’s Chicken BBQ on Friday, May 10th, from 4-6PM at St. Michael’s Church, Next to HVCC, in Troy.

4-H Cooking Class for Youth

The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County 4-H Youth Development program is holding a four week 4-H Junior Chefs program.

This session is for youth eight years and older who like to cook, and for those who would like to learn how to cook. This session will have an international food theme and youth will prepare food from a variety of countries as well as learn about foods and other customs from those nations.

The 4-H Junior Chefs will meet at the CCE office, located at 61 State St., Troy, on the second floor, on Wednesdays, March 6, 13, 20, and 27, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. There is a $25.00 registration fee for 4-H members and $30.00 for non-members. Pre-registration is required, and registration will be limited. Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner

The Melrose Church, 20 Church Street, will hold a corned beef and cabbage dinner on March 9, 2019 at 5:00 p.m., take outs at 4:30 p.m. Cost for adults $12.00, children 4-10 is $5.00.

VFW Auxiliary’s St. Patrick’s Corned Beef Dinner

Sullivan Jones VFW Auxiliary is hosting our Annual St. Patrick’s Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on Saturday, March 16th, with one serving at 6:00.  Dinners purchased as take outs will be ready to pick up at 6:15.

Purchase tickets today at the Post Canteen, most days after 3:00. All-You-Can-Eat Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner with all the fixins.

Hoags Corner’s Monthly Breakfast

The Hoags Corner’s Fire Department will be hosting an All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast on March 3, 2019 from 8 am to 11 am. Our All-You-Can-Eat Buffet-Style Breakfast includes, scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, French toast, regular pancakes plus applesauce, fruit cocktail, English muffins, coffee, tea, chocolate milk, orange juice and milk.

Poestenkill Fire Co. Roast Beef Dinner

Please join us for a roast beef dinner on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the Poestenkill Fire House. Dinner will be served family style and will consist of roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cole slaw, rolls, and homemade desserts. Serving time will be 5 pm to 6 pm. Come to a great, all-you-can-eat, spaghetti dinner, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus at St. Henry’s Church on Old Route 66 on Saturday, March 2nd. Dinner is from 4:30pm to 7:00pm. Price of the dinner is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12 or $20 per family.

We will be serving spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread, dessert & beverages.

Emmanuel Reformed Church Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner

As luck would have it, the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Castleton is once again having its Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on Saturday, March 16th, with servings at 4:30 and 6:00 p.m.

The menu will include corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, Irish soda bread, dessert and coffee or tea all for only $12 per adult; $5 children 6-12 and free for children under 6.  The proceeds from this dinner go to our mission programs.  Please call 518-732-7766 for reservations and takeout.  We are located at 1150 Maple Hill Rd., adjacent to the High School, have plenty of parking and are handicapped accessible.  For all who are Irish, at least for a day, see you March 16!

A minister asked his assistant to do the sermon Sunday while he was out of town. When he returned, he asked a member if he liked the sermon. The member said no. The minister asked his assistant about the sermon.  The assistant said, “I didn’t have time to write a sermon, so I used one of yours.”

Corned Beef Dinner at Pawling Ave. UM Church

The Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church invites you to a Corned Beef Dinner on Saturday, March 16th. Dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 PM or until sold out. The menu will be corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, Irish Soda Bread, dessert and beverage. Adult meals are $10.00, meals for children 6 to 12 years old are $5.00 and meals for children 5 and under are free. Take outs will be available.

Boy Scouts of America – Troop 166

Roast Beef Dinner

The scouts of Troop 166, Nassau, are hosting their annual fund-raising roast beef dinner at North Chatham United Methodist Church in the Hamlet of North Chatham (4274 Rt. 203) on Saturday, March 2nd. The dinner is all-you-can-eat, family-style and includes rolls, roast beef, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, gravy, and dessert.

Eat-in Dinner cost: $15.00 adults, $7.50 children under 10; Take-out dinners are $15. Tickets are advance sale. Special delivery for Shut-ins Home Delivery and Take-out are not limited but should be ordered in advance. Doors open at 4:45pm –- Dinner will start at 5:00PM –- Take-out service starts at 5:30.

Immediately following dinner is the ever-popular auction, which is noted for great deals on high-quality items and gift certificates donated by the great local businesses.

Scouting teaches young men to accept responsibility and develop leadership skills. The proceeds from this event are primarily used to help offset the cost to the scouts attending summer camp, where they will work on these skills and to help the troop to purchase necessary scouting and camping materials.
