Advent & Christmas Projects Gilead Lutheran Church
Community Ministry at Gilead Lutheran Church has begun their annual winter project. We collect hats, scarves, and mittens for those people who are unable to provide their own insulation from the winter and would otherwise have to face the bitter cold. Also, being collected are underwear and socks, all sizes for women, men and children. The items we receive will be taken to Joseph’s house for distribution.
If you would like to help with this project, a plastic bin has been placed at the side doors on the south side of the building.
Because of the overwhelming response of plastic bags, we will suspend the collection of them for now.
Gilead Lutheran Church is located at the intersection of Routes 7 & 278 in the Town of Brunswick and we are handicapped accessible. 518-279-9270
Join Us During Advent at the Nassau Grace UM Church
In a season of holiday haste and hustle, Advent calls us to slow down and prepare. In a world of darkness and violence, the church proclaims a message of light and hope. In a world of division and fear, the coming of the Christ child reminds us of the healing power of love.
Your friends and neighbors invite you to join us during the four Sundays of Advent on December 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd for our weekly service at 10 am. Held in our historic and beautifully decorated sanctuary, children are invited to take part in our Sunday School starting midway through the service. This year’s Advent theme is based on a program written by Marcia McFee. Each service will highlight a different phrase from the favorite Christmas hymn, “Silent Night.”
On Monday, December 24th, at 7 pm, a traditional candlelight service will be held. The joyous worship celebration will contain scripture, carols, a Christmas message and lighting of candles.
The church is located at 42 Church Street, Route 20 in Nassau Village. For additional information, please contact Pastor Dion Marquit. Text or Call: 518-915-3393.

On December 22 we will gather under our pavilion to celebrate the birth of Jesus. There will be warm beverages and carols to enjoy before the Christmas Story is acted out. Then we will share a warm meal and goodies, make ornaments for the Christmas tree and just enjoy each other’s company as we listen to some Christmas jazz. Christmas is a season filled with joy and festivities, but not for everyone. It can be a time of sadness when we experience loss, grief, loneliness, and struggles, big and small. It can be a time of despair when we feel overwhelmed by the headlines of natural disasters, gun violence, immigration fear, and divisiveness. Blue Christmas is a quiet, reflective worship service, a time to acknowledge our sadness and despair, and remember the season of hope. Christ is coming — no hustle, no bustle. Feel his light and be encouraged. You are welcome at the Blue Christmas service.
