Vacation bible school at Hope Lutheran – Who is my Neighbor?

July 29 – Aug 2 from 8:30am – 1:00pm

Believing that service to one’s neighbor should be a priority for every person of faith, the theme of this summer’s VBS at Hope will help children to understand that we may serve and benefit others in everything we do! The parable of the Good Samaritan will set the theme and help us determine who our “neighbor” really is! We’ll visit neighbors in six parts of the globe over our five days together. There will be singing, crafts, games, a simulation station where children will have hands-on experiences, skits, storytime, and snacks! Hope Lutheran is located at the corner of Blooming Grove Drive and Winter St in Defreestville. Call Marilyn at 518-326-5276 and leave your name and email for a registration form. Check out Hope at hopelc.org. Hope your kids will join us! There is no charge for Vacation Bible School at Hope!

Hopes Kitchen Received Grant

Due to the tireless efforts of Emily Purtell, a Hope Lutheran Church member, Hopes Kitchen has been awarded a grant of $250! The grant was awarded by Thrivent Insurance, a company with a long history of affiliations with Lutheran Churches, and their community projects.

Hopes Kitchen is an outreach ministry of Hope Lutheran Church, Winter street extension Church in North Greenbush. Having been a sister congregation of St. Paul’s Lutheran 3rd Street in Rensselaer it was felt that Hope was in a position to reach out to the city of Rensselaer Community.

Pastor David Moore of Rensselaer Presbyterian church welcomed the idea of housing Hope’s Kitchen at his church. Free community meals are prepared and served the second Thursday of each month. Dinner is between 3:30 and 6:30. The dinners are open to anyone in the community, seniors, families, homeless, teens, and singles.

Hope’s head chef, Marion Daus, of Wynantskill has a crew of up to 15 helpers and servers, including some young people from the Rensselear Middle School. Marion has a history of preparing meals for groups as large as 150, it is the goal of this ministry to match those number. Please join us on August 8th.

We all know how easy it is to decline. Please invite all neighboring campers to participate in the vesper services. It really improves the worship experience when we have a good turn out and it makes it easier to recruit the busy pastors who come and serve us each week. If your pastor is on the schedule, please call her or him and invite the individual and their family to your camp for an afternoon supper as a thank you from all of us! TO ALL WHO MINISTER TO US: We at Methodist Farm are very appreciative of your being willing to be with us to lead our Vesper Services. You are a guest of the camp. Please use your season ticket freely all summer and enjoy a picnic or a swim. Or you may give it to some parent in need. When planning worship, please remember that we have a supply of the old 1964 Methodist Hymnals. If you have any questions, please call Cathy Skaczkowski 518.429.8982. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us! Come worship with us this summer at Methodist Farm Sunday Vespers 2019 Sunday Evening at 7:00 pm* * or as noted *
