Happy Halloween At The Rensselaer County Senior Center, Monday, October 31st

Join us as we dance to Bobby T’s great music and parade showing off all our creative costumes. There will be Cash prizes for Most Creative, Scariest and Prettiest. Parade takes place after lunch which consists of long awaited and popular Meatloaf, Vegetable, Potato and Special Dessert. Our parties always have lots of dancing. Leave your slippers and Tylenol by your couch for when you get home. Plan on rocking with us on this special day. Senior Centers Host Veteran Appreication Luncheon

Rensselaer County’s Hoosick Falls Senior Center, 69 Church Street, and the Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Grafton, will each host a Veteran Appreciation Lunch as follows. 

The Hoosick Falls event will be on Wednesday, November 9th with a noon meal followed by guest speaker, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Chuck Rodda. He is a retired officer with an impressive background: a Combat Medic and Army Aviator (Huey, Cobra, Blackhawk, and Lakota). He was the state instructor pilot, teaching everyone in the military that flies in New York. Now that he is retired, he is the Regional Director of LifeNet. 

Grafton’s Everett Wagar Senior Center event will be held on Thurs, Nov 10th with a noon meal followed by guest Speaker, Carrie Farley, President of the Albany Chapter of the American Gold Star Mothers. Carrie is the proud mother of SSG Derek J. Farley, who was killed while serving his country. American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. is a private nonprofit organization of America mothers who lost their sons or daughters in service of the United States Armed Forces. Carrie will talk about the volunteer work the organization does to support our Veterans.

Lunch is free to all veterans. Cost for lunch for seniors is a suggested $3 donation. There will be a $5 charge for non-seniors attending.

Attention Closet Cleaners

Are you switching the seasons over in your closet? If you didn’t wear it this summer don’t pack it away! Donate to our Boutique at the Rensselaer Area Senior Service Center. All proceeds go towards senior programs. We are now accepting quality fall and winter clothes as well as quality spring and summer clothes. If you gained weight over a very social summer, don’t pack it away you deserve a shopping spree when you reach your ideal weight again. We greatly appreciate you. We are located on East and Herrick street across the street from Amtrak Train Station. We are open 9am to 3pm (518) 463-2166
