Grafton Senior Center News

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Cropseyville, will be open with limited hours. State and County Guidelines will be posted and must be followed at all times. The center is now open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 3:00 with congregate lunch and activities. Mondays and Fridays the center will be open 9:30 to 11:00 for our 10:00 Chair Yoga class. On Tuesdays, there will be Senior Yoga Plus class at 10:00. Both are low impact classes that ALL seniors can do at their own pace. 

Sept 20th, Donny ELVIS will provide entertainment at the Special Luncheon (Veal/Mushroom Marsala with mashed potatoes). A special thank you goes to CDPHP for sponsoring this event. Donny does an amazing show for us. You won’t want to miss this event. Please call to let us know you plan to attend lunch and the event. Sept 22nd will be Movie Day with Root Beer Floats following lunch. Come at 10:00 to plan crafts for the Holiday Bazaar and help with baskets for the upcoming Basket Raffle. Sept 29th seniors will work on crafts. Looking ahead, the next Grafton Senior Membership meeting will be held on Oct 4th at 11:15. Signup now for haircut/mani/pedi appointments for Oct 11th.

Congregate lunch is served at the senior center Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon for a suggested donation of $3. Grab-n-Go meals are also available on Tuesday and Thursday. Please call early to be added to the lunch list at (518) 279-3413 so we can be sure to have enough food pre-pared.

History of Rutland Railroad Presentation at Senior Center

The Hoosick Falls Senior Center, 69 Church Street, will host the Grafton Historical Society to do a presentation about the Rutland Railroad on Wednesday, September 21st following lunch. All are invited to jump aboard for a nostalgic adventure along the Rutland RR fabled Corkscrew Subdivision through Bennington, Petersburgh, Berlin, Cherry Plains, Stephentown and points south. 

Explore rails and tales, and history and mystery along this route via a video presentation. Historians, railroaders and local residents’ anecdotes will all be included in this presentation. Plan to come early for a healthy and delicious lunch served at noon. There is a suggested $3 lunch donation for seniors and a $5 charge for non-seniors. You won’t want to miss this informative and interesting presentation. Please call (518) 686-7561 to be added to the event/lunch list.

Hoosick Falls Senior Center News

The Hoosick Falls Senior Center, 69 Church Street, Hoosick Falls, is open 9:00 to 3:00 Monday, Wednesday and Fridays and 9:00 to 1:00 Tuesday and Thursdays, with lunch served at noon each day. State and County Guidelines will be posted and must be followed at all times. There will be limited van transportation to and from the center on Wednesday and Friday only. You must call each day to be placed on the list. Mondays at the center there is card group 10-noon, and then open card playing following lunch. Most Wednesdays we have Senior Games at 12:30 and Senior Exercise group at 1:30. Fridays there is Bingo following lunch unless there is a special event. In that case BINGO will be from 10 to noon on Thursday. 

Sept 21st the center will host the Grafton Historical Society to do a presentation on the Rutland Railroad. Sept 28th there will be a Special Luncheon with music by John Hill, County singer.

A congregate lunch is served at the center weekdays at noon. There is a suggested donation of $3 per meal. In addition to congregate meals, the center also offers Grab-N-Go lunches Monday through Friday. Please call the center in advance at 518-686-7561 to sign up for all meals.

Speigle-Elders Amish Trip 

The Speigle-Elders Senior group is sponsoring a trip; PA Amish Holiday Tour, 3 days – 2 nights, Nov. 9th-11th. Wade MotorcoachTransportation. 

Trip cost is $439.00 per person, it includes:2 nights lodging, 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners including Family-style Dinner and a Smorgasbord Dinner, Home for the Holidays at the American Music Theatre. CDPHP sponsors Donny ‘Elvis” at Grafton Senior Center

Bring your friends for this Special Luncheon (Veal Pattie Mushroom Marsala with mashed potatoes) starting at noon. Be ready to dance, listen to the music, sing-a-long, and be entertained. A Tribute To Tina Turner And Whitney Houston

Join the Rensselaer County Rensselaer Senior Center October 11th as we celebrate two extremely talented ladies at Villa Roma Resort and Conference Center. 

Our day starts at 8am as we depart from Yankee Trails. Arrive at the Resort between 10 and 10:45am welcome coffee and cake will be served. Lunch is served in the main dining room at 12 noon. Lunch consists of fruit cup and pumpkin soup. Entrees are choice of Pot Roast, Chicken Francese or Fillet of Cod. All served with chef’s choice of starch and vegetable. Desert will be chef’s surprise, Coffee, Tea and Decaf and a carafe of Red and White wine. Matinee Show will Start at 1:45 pm Starring LaTraia Savage.
