Glendora Vegeterian Club

Pollsters will tell you that one of the biggest problems people have with pop culture icons and politicians is that they are rarely consistent in their words, deeds, and actions.  And surveys show that consistency throughout the various facets of one’s life – work, freetime, entertainment and food choices – are at the top of the agenda for younger generations.

It is generally accepted to show compassion to an injured fawn by the side of the road, or send money to an animal shelter when they advertise on TV.  Our hearts are filled with joy when we see a group of baby puppies wrestling with each other, or a songbird feast at the birdseed we dutifully overpay for throughout the leaner months.  But what about the chicken that lives its shortened life in abject pain, or the cattle who’s lives are ended by the tens of thousands daily?

If you find yourself answering “…because that’s how I’ve always done it,” then my hope is that you will take some time to sit with that this weekend, and question whether you truly are living out that consistent life that you so desire.  Asking questions confers no judgment; it only serves to give us more (no pun intended) “food for thought.”

A man says there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for my brother.  There is nothing my brother wouldn’t do for me.  So we go through life doing nothing for each other.
