East Side Seniors 

Our next meeting will be on June 14th, at 1:00 at the American Legion Post, Main St.,Wynantskill. We are hoping for a BIG turn out for this meeting. We need to get things going again, starting with ideas, and offers of help We like to plan a trip or two, luncheons, parties,and bocci.. Hope to see many new faces both women and men.

Attention Seniors: Elvis is coming to Schodack!!

The Edward C. Swartz Senior Center located at 1800 East Schodack Road is excited to announce that on Tuesday, June 21st, 2022 Elvis will be in the building for our special dinner. The menu will be chicken with barbeque sauce, Sweet potatoes, a green vegetable, bread, milk and a special dessert. Elvis (Donny) will entertain us after lunch! 

As always we offer the following activities: Chair Yoga on Mondays, Game day on Tuesdays, Exercise Class on Wednesdays, and Dart League on Fridays. Due to popular demand BINGO will return on the last Thursday of the month at 12:30pm right after lunch beginning June 30th, 2022.

Back by Popular Demand “Donny Elvis” at the Rensselaer Senior Center Tuesday June 14th

Always a great day of entertainment, good food and social stimulation. Lunch consists of Chicken Parmesan with pasta, veggies and fresh fruit. Come early and do a little shopping in our Boutique. Grafton Senior Center News

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Cropseyville, will be open with limited hours. State and County Guidelines will be posted and must be followed at all times. The center is now open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 3:00 with congregate lunch and activities. Mondays and Fridays the center will be open 9:30 to 11:00 for our 10:00 Chair Yoga class. On Tuesdays, there will be Senior Yoga Plus class at 10:00. Both classes are low impact that all senior citizens can do.

Rachel will be at the center June 14th for haircuts, manicures and pedicures. Call for an appointment time. Also June 14th we will celebrate the month’s birthdays following lunch with senior games. June 16th there will be a Father’s Day Fun Day at 12:30. June 21st is Bring a Friend Ice Cream Social following lunch. June 23rd is Movie Day. Lots of new and exciting things are going on at the senior center. Come and check it out. The center will be closed on June 20th is observance of Juneteenth Day.

The June club schedule will be as follows, meeting 9:30 to 11:00 at the center. June 13th Scrapbooking Group and June 27th Knitting and Crochet Group. All are welcome to attend any of the clubs. There is no charge.

Spring Cleaning Donations Welcomed at Senior Center

Are you doing your Spring cleaning? Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Cropseyville, has an ongoing Tag Sale table, as well as a Second Hand Clothing Closet. Money collected helps to fund activities at the center, including entertainment, games prizes, decorations, and Special events. Donations of new and/or slightly used small items are welcomed and appreciated. 

We also accept assistance yarn, material and craft supplies as we have seniors that make items to donate to different organizations.

Card Game Thursdays

Thursdays at the Rensselaer County Senior Center there is Pinochle games. Like to play pinochle? Join us for lunch and a card game or two. This is great mental stimulation and a good time. Attention Happy Hookers

Ladies you’re doing a outstanding job knitting, crocheting lap robes, hats and scarves, shawls and booties for our nursing homes, for Christmas. we believe it would be helpful to put dimensions (44’’ & 34”) for lap robes in this article. We have yarn to help out with this great project. We also have some very small lap robes that need a little add on to be affective.

Sand Lake Seniors Club

If you are 55+ and would enjoy an active senior club, we meet at noon on the second Thursday of each month at the AP/SL Firehouse. Obtain an application at our June 9th meeting. Dues are $15 for 2022 and payable by check.

Our Hospitality committee has organized a Family Style Luncheon at Moscatiello’s Restaurant on Thursday, June 16th. Reservations/Payment with check for $31.00 (Members) and $33.00 (Non-Members) can still be accepted at our June meeting.

More than forty seniors have signed up for the Lake George trip scheduled on Wednesday, 6/29. Other trips planned are these shows: Neil Diamond (7/28) and Kenny Rogers (8/9). The overnight trip to Ocean City, MD from 9/12-15,2022 is full, but there is a ‘Waiting List” in case of cancellations. Bette Bieg (518-663-8292) is taking reservations for the Lancaster, PA tour from 11/15-17,2022.

Game days for seniors are held on Tuesdays and Fridays from noon to 4 PM at SHAC Center on Lake Avenue in Averill Park. Several seniors have been taking computer classes there. At our May meeting we were entertained with skits, Mill Ladies and Lost in Vermont, thanks to the Sand Lake Center for the Arts. Special thanks to Tom Riston for organizing a stellar, charitable fundraiser.

Plans are underway for a picnic in early August. Please join us at a meeting to get details about all our trips and activities.

Good News, Grab and Go Lunch is Available Five Days a Week

RENSSELAER – The Rensselaer County Rensselaer Senior Center are offering nutritious meals Monday through Friday. Pickup is at 11:30. 

Please call the day before to order your lunch and enjoy a hot homemade meal 5 times a week. 

Must be 60 years old to participate in this great program. Suggested contribution is $3 per meal. No one is denied a meal due to inability to contribute. Call 518-463-2166 for more information. Located on East and Herrick Streets. 

Attention Closet Cleaners

RENSSELAER – We, at the Rensselaer County Rensselaer Senior Center, thank you so much for responding to our request for spring and summer gently used clothing we are still accepting donations and are still in need of shoes pocketbooks and costume jewelry.
