Sand Lake Seniors Club

The Sand Lake Seniors Club meets at noon on the second Thursday of each month at the Averill Park-Sand Lake Firehouse on Eastern Union Turnpike. Our dues are $15 per person each year. We are still accepting memberships for 2022. Next month’s luncheon will be provided by one of our Hospitality teams. 

We already have these day trips planned: Lake George (6/29), Neil Diamond show (7/28), and Kenny Rogers Tribute show (8/9). Easter Special Dinner

Join our Center on Wednesday April 13th as we celebrate Easter!. Menu consists of Prime Rib Burger w/ Lite Salt Beef Gravy, Parslied Rice, Broccoli Florets, Dinner Roll and Ice Cream (make your own sundae) for desert. After a delightful luncheon dance to the music of Bob Treffiletti. This is not a sing along center-we are a ROCKING! Center- so bring your dancing shoes. Before leaving home from the party set up your couch with a pillow and your ibuprofen because you’re going to need a nap after this exciting afternoon.

East Side Seniors

Our next meeting will be on April 12th. at 1;00, at American Legion Post, Main St.,Wynantskill. Dessert will be served after the meeting. We always welcome members to join the FUN on Monday mornings at the ICC to play bocci. If you want to just try bocci be a SUB. Hope to see you all soon at the meeting or BOCCI.

Exciting news from the Southern Tier Senior Center!

The Edward C. Swartz Senior Center at 1800 East Schodack Road, Castleton is pleased to announce that our special dinner for the month of April will be on April 18th. 

We will be having a delicious Ham dinner with all the fixings AND we will be entertained by the fabulous Gone Grey Band!

We would also like to remind you of the activities that we offer: Chair Yoga on Monday, Excercise class on Wednesdays, and Dart League on Fridays.

Rensselaer County Senior Center Proudly Presents Backyard Tour Tuesday June 28th

We Board our Yankee Trails Motor Coach at 9:30am and off we go. First stop is Ten Broeck Mansion where we will enjoy a beautiful English Garden and house tour. Second stop is “Presidential” Albany Rural Cemetery to visit President Arthur’s burial site. At this point we are ready for lunch at the beautiful Desmond Hotel and Conference Center Courtyard. Menu consists of: House Salad W/ Bread and Butter. Entrée’s: Spanakopita Chicken, Maple Dijon Salmon or Angus Sirloin Meatloaf. Desert consists of apple pie, coffee or tea. After a delightful lunch we are off to the Schenectady County Historical Society to view a new exhibition on collectibles. We will examine the cultural and psychological impulses of collecting. Last stop Krause’s Candy Store for some wonderful homemade chocolates. After a stimulating afternoon we head home. Once home we recount the day while munching on some great chocolates purchased at our last stop. “Sign up early seats are limited”

An Afternoon With Norman Rockwell

Tuesday April 12th 

Board our Yankee Trails motor coach at 10:30am and off we go to Michaels of Stockbridge for a home cooked meal. 

Dinner consists of either Herb encrusted oven roast beef, topped with brown gravy, Baked stuffed chicken with bread stuffing covered with supreme sauce. Or Baked Cod with seasoned bread crumb topping. All dinners are served with chef’s choice of vegetables and starch. Also included are salad, rolls with butter, coffee or tea, and dessert. 

After a delightful lunch we are all off to the Norman Rockwell Museum where we will enjoy an afternoon of fine art and memories of time gone by. Do you remember The Saturday Evening Post? After a fun afternoon at the museum we are off to a pastry shop “Peace Love and Chocolate” to purchase nibbles for our ride home, as well as gourmet coffees.

Grafton Senior Center News

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Cropseyville, will be open with limited hours. State and County Guidelines will be posted and must be followed at all times. The center is now open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 3:00 with congregate lunch and activities. Mondays and Fridays the center will be open 9:00 to 11:00 for our 10:00 Chair Yoga class. Tuesdays at 10:00 will be Senior Yoga Plus class. Both classes are low impact classes that all senior citizens can do.

Haircuts/Manicures/Pedicures with Rachel, by appointment only, will be April 12th. Please call ahead for an appointment time. Upcoming April special events to put on the calendar: April 12th Eat Smart Demonstration, April 14th Grafton meeting at 11:00 and Monthly Birthday Celebration and Trivia following lunch, 4/19 Special Luncheon with Bob Treffiletti, 4/26 Elder Care Violence speaker from Unity House.

Rensselaer County Senior Center Proudly Presents a Vermont Experience

Back by popular demand!!

8:30 AM Board our Yankee Trails Bus and we are off to the Village Chocolate Shop. After a sweet experience in Bennington Vermont we are off to the New England House for a delightful lunch. 

Menu choices consist of: 

Caesar Salad, New England Beef Pot Roast, Herb Crusted White Fish or Maple Barbecue Pork Loin, Homemade Bread and Maple Walnut Brownies for Desert. 

Next stop: Friesians of Majesty Equestrian Farm where we will all enjoy a show and tour. Friesians have a long rich history originating in Friesland in the Netherlands. Friesians date back to the 4th century and are the most graceful and nimble for their size. 

We will see a show not soon to be forgotten by these magnificent animals. We will also have an opportunity to tour the farm and have pictures taken. To complete our day we will stop at the Grafton Cheese Factory where we will have an opportunity to purchase a wonderful selection of Vermont cheeses. Then we head home with fond memories of a beautiful day spent in Vermont.

It’s Never Too Early To Talk About Lake George Steamboat Company.

Every year the Rensselaer County Senior Center hosts a trip to Lake George for a buffet luncheon and a two – hour cruise sponsored by the city of Rensselaer. To be eligible for this great day you must dine with us 12 times or more during the year. 

We charter a deluxe Motor coach for transportation out of Yankee Trails and the buffet is wonderful. We never get tired of the narrated tour of the million dollar beach, lakeside mansions and the people that lived there in the hay day. Hope you join us. 

We take ONE bus only!. Please start planning for this day by dining with us early and often

Appointments No Longer Needed!

RENSSELAER COUNTY – The Rensselaer County Senior Center boutique is open five days a week and walk ins are welcome. You no longer need to make an appointment. We do ask you to be aware of social distancing. We have some beautiful gently used clothing thanks to the communities generosity in donating. Everything is priced reasonably. 

We serve lunch Monday Thru Friday at 12 noon with a reservation. Please join us and enjoy a great social experience and the potential for a new wardrobe. We are now excepting spring and summer clothing, pocketbooks, shoes, sandals and costume jewelry.

Good News, Grab and Go Lunch is Available Five Days a Week

RENSSELAER – The Rensselaer County Rensselaer Senior Center are offering nutritious meals Monday through Friday. Pickup is at 11:30. 

Please call the day before to order your lunch and enjoy a hot homemade meal 5 times a week. 

Must be 60 years old to participate in this great program. Suggested contribution is $3 per meal. No one is denied a meal due to inability to contribute. Call 518-463-2166 for more information. Located on East and Herrick Streets. 

Attention Closet Cleaners

RENSSELAER – We, at the Rensselaer County Rensselaer Senior Center, thank you so much for responding to our request for spring and summer gently used clothing we are still accepting donations and are still in need of shoes pocketbooks and costume jewelry.
