I Love My Library Shopping Day
Market Block Books, 290 River Street, is graciously hosting a fundraising event for the Troy Public Library on Sunday, November 18th, from 11AM-3PM. Market Block Books will donate 20% of all sales to support the Troy Public Library (no bonus book cards or other discounts will be available on this date). Come out and support your library and get a head start on your holiday shopping! Make your purchase count doubly by purchasing an item from the library’s wish list and donate both the item plus 20% of the sale to the library!

Chapel and Cultural Center Benefit Craft Fair
The University Parish of Christ Sun of Justice at the Capel and Cultural Center on 2125 Burdett Avenue in Troy, will hold its annual craft fair on Sat., Nov. 17th, from 3-6:30pm; and Sun., Nov. 18th, after each Mass (9am, 10:30am and 5pm). Oakwood Cemetery Family Christmas Concert
Join us on Saturday, Dec. 8th, with a snow date of Sunday, Dec. 9th, 1pm; $10 per family.
Reservations with payment are required by Friday, December 7th. Seating is limited. Come enjoy the beauty of the Earl Chapel* and its excellent acoustics as you listen to some seasonal carols by the Highlight Acting Troupe. Annual Fresh Florida Citrus Fundraiser
The yearly Troy Kiwanis Fresh Florida Fruit sale is on again
to raise money for projects that directly assist Troy area youth. 20 lbs. for only $25
Navel Oranges, Ruby Red Grapefruit or a Mixed Case.
Most area groups are charging well over $30/case.

Holiday Pop-Up Tours at Oakwood Chapel
Do you have relatives coming from out of town for Thanksgiving? Are you wondering how you’ll amuse them after you’ve done all the turkey dinner and Black Friday stuff? Here’s your chance to impress them with something completely different!
The Friends of Oakwood will offer guided tours of the Gardner Earl Chapel at 1pm and 2pm on Saturday, November 24th, for just $10. per person. Children under 12 are free. Registration is not required, but each tour will be limited to 40 people with priority going to registrants. The castle-like Earl Chapel is a National Historic Landmark boasting spectacular stained-glass windows, oak carvings and marble mosaics. The Social History of Washington Park
On Tuesday, November 20th, at 6:30PM, Steve Muller, co-author of “Washington Park, Troy, New York: A Social History,” published by the Rensselaer County Historical Society, will review the history of Troy’s most prestigious 19th century neighborhood and relate some of the many stories about the important and interesting people who lived there. Copies of the book will be available for sale.

RPI Chapel + Cultural Center Honored for their 50th Anniversary
The Chapel + Cultural Center, a multipurpose performing arts and worship space that serves the educational, cultural, social, and spiritual needs of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the surrounding Troy and greater Capital Region communities was honored by Rensselaer County Democratic Minority Leader Cindy Doran on their 50th Anniversary.
A proclamation was presented by Legislator Cindy Doran to Fr. Ed Kacerguis, Pastor of the University Parish of Christ Sun of Justice, to Fran Hyde, President of the Rensselaer Newman Foundation, and to Kevin Krillik, Director of the Chapel + Cultural Center.

Vendor & Craft Fair
Join Hope 7 at the Italian Community Center, 1450 5th Ave, Troy, for our annual vendor/craft fair, Saturday, December 1st, from 9-3pm. This event will feature over 50 vendors and crafters for all of your holiday shopping needs. There will be a variety of raffles, 50/50, free admission, bake sale & ample parking. The ICC will have food available for purchase. The first 100 shoppers through the door will be entered in a special raffle drawing. Proceeds from this event will benefit Hope 7 Community Center’s food pantry.
Holiday Bazaar
Center Brunswick United Methodist Church, located at 990 Hoosick Rd., is having a Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, December 1st, from 10am to 6pm. There will be crafts, baked goods, inflatables, artificial trees and decorations for sale as well as gift tables of great gift ideas. Lunch items will be available. FAMACHA and Parasite Workshop
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County will be offering a FAMACHA and Parasite Workshop on Saturday, December 8th, from 9am-12pm, at the CCE office in Troy (61 state Street. It will be instructed by Jason Detzel, CCE Ulster County and Kayela Statom, CCE Rensselaer County.
In this workshop producers will be taught the basics of parasite control as well as how to develop integrated parasite management programs for their farms. As part of this workshop we will also have a hands-on training on how to use the FAMACHA Anemia Guide (good only for the barber pole worm) health exams to determine the need for de-worming, and fecal egg counts. Attendees are encouraged to bring a refrigerated fecal sample of 8 to 10 fecal pellets in a baggie from one sheep or goat at your farm. Also, for the purpose of biosecurity please wear clean clothes and shoes to the workshop and plan to change them prior to working on your own farm.

Ilium Literary Club Meeting
The Ilium Literary Club of Troy will hold its monthly meeting at 1:30 PM on Friday, 12/7/18, at the Troy Masonic Community Center, 39 Brunswick Rd, Troy. This will be our annual Christmas Tea. Our guest speaker will be Margaret Story who will present the Story of Christmas Pins. Members and guests are invited to wear your favorite Christmas Pin.
Great Latke Festival
Sunday, December 2nd, from 2pm till 4pm, Beth Tephilah Synagogue, located at 82 River St, Troy, will be having the second annual Great Latke Festival featuring exotic latkes from around the world! This year some of the varieties are The Canadian Cranberry Latke, the American Apple Pie Latke, The Mexican Hot Salsa Latke, The Russian Onion Latke, The Indian Curry Latke, The Israeli Falafel Latke, The Sweet Pepper Latke, The Chinese Sweet and Sour Latke, the Spanish Olive Latke and voted the best tasting of them all, the Chocolate-Peanut Butter Latke. These are not just toppings on the Latkes, but hand crafted in to each latke itself! We will also feature make your special donut with many different toppings! Arts and crafts activities for children will be available. Admission is free, but donations are always welcome. After the party, A Menorah Lighting ceremony will take place with several dignitaries of Troy including the Honorable Mayor Patrick Madden at Monument Square in downtown Troy, just a few blocks from Beth Tephilah Synagogue. Troy Rehabilitation Improvement Program (TRIP) Honored for their 50th Anniversary
