Glendora Vegetarian Club

First off, folks, please appreciate The Advertiser for sustaining our community announcements. They are precious to us.

Now the idea of quarantine has a happy thought. It is an extension of winter’s long dark nights when we have the opportunity to catch up on our sleep, bring up to date our meditation and keep current our work.

Recall that in the year c.1650, Isaac Newton was a student at Cambridge University when the bubonic plague ravaged Europe. At the age of 26, he was sent home to the family farm. While there he discovered the great laws of motion: and object at rest remains at rest unless acted upon by an outside force; the acceleration of an object is proportional to the force upon it but unproportional to its mass; for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. As if these accomplishments were not monumental enough, he wrote the grand formula for the law of universal gravitation: the force between you and me is the product of our masses and divided by the square root of our distances. This applies to all bodies in the universe. And as if that were not enough, during his period of quarantine, Newton did his work in optics: he put a beam of white light through a prism discovering that it consists of 6 colors, red through purple. Doesn’t this personally show you a benefit of quarantine?

Jokes:

1. Misers are no fun to live with, but they make great ancestors.

2. Man at the door to the little boy who answered “Is your mother home?”

“She ain’t in.”

“May I see your dad?”

“He ain’t in neither.”

“Young man, what about your grammar?”

“She ain’t in neither.”

Go vegan!
