East Side Seniors

The next regular meeting will be on Dec. 10, at the American Legion Post, in Wynantskill, starting at 1:00 P.M. Team 5 will be our hosts for lunch after the meeting. Our Christmas luncheon will be on Dec. 19, at Paolo Lombardi ‘s, at 12:30. All reservations MUST be made and Paid for by Dec. 10th. A reminder to all members, If the Wynantskill Schools are closed the Meeting is canceled. Bocce players, if we have 3” of Snow or Troy schools are closed Bocce is canceled. We have a tentative date for Wildwood, being June 7 – 12, more info to follow. Our meetings are held on the 2nd & 4th Tues. of the month. Come join the fun.

Ugly Sweat Christmas Carol Party at Senior Center

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Grafton, will hold an Ugly Sweater Day with Christmas Caroling and fun activities on Friday, December 20th at noon. Following the meal (Fresh Ham) there will be prizes for the best homemade ugly sweaters, Christmas caroling, fun activities that will make you laugh, and Christmas sundaes to close the party. All residents 60 and older are encouraged to come and join us for a good time. Lunch is served daily at the Senior Center. Call 518-279-3413 to be added to the list.

Special Lunch with Music Entertainment

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Grafton, will hold a Special Luncheon on Wednesday, December 18th at noon. Following the meal there will be music entertainment by one of our favorites, Paul Slusar. All residents 60 and older are encouraged to come and singing along, or join in with dancing. Guest Speaker at Everett Wagar Senior Center

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Grafton, will host a guest speaker from the Rensselaer County Health Department on Friday, December 20 at 11:15. This months’ topic is Fall Prevention Awareness. Falls are a serious health risk for older people, and a fall is a life-changing event that can lead to disability, loss of independence, or even death. Over 25% of adults aged 65 and older fall every year. Come and learn about preventative measures you can take to avoid falls. All speakers at the center are free to all residents 60 and over. Plan to stay for a nutritious lunch for a suggested $3 donation, with our Ugly Sweater Christmas party to follow. Please call to be added to the lunch list at 518-279-3413.

December Special Dinner

December Special Dinner will be held on December 20th. Christmas Carols with Over The Hill Gang providing our entertainment for the afternoon. On the Menu: Christmas fresh ham dinner w/dressing and gravy, mashed sweet potatoes, meadow blend, dinner roll, and Christmas poke cake to end a great afternoon of food & fun. All Rensselaer County seniors are welcome to join us for the celebration.

East and Herrick street in Rensselaer in the McManus Center lunch is served at 12 Noon followed by our “Elvis show” featuring Donny Elvis Sponsored by Walter S Pratt And Sons. Always a crowd pleaser. Enjoy Christmas music and gospel as well as some of your favorites. Those Coming To lunch will receive a Donny Elvis memorabilia.

1944 USO Show Honoring Pearl Harbor Day – Friday December 6th. Join the Rensselaer County Rensselaer Senior Center for a memorable afternoon. Grafton Fitness Opportunities

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Road, Grafton, has several opportunities to keep our residents 60 and older in shape. Chair Yoga is offered 3 times a week at no charge. This is a low-impact workout for the body and mind. Aerobic Swimming is available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Bennington Rec Center with transportation. Water aerobics offers a resistance and buoyancy that cannot be experienced on ground. The center has a small exercise room with a treadmill and stationary bikes. Regular exercise reduces the risk of injury, decreased symptoms of depression, and improves mobility. Regular exercise can lower blood pressure, strengthen muscles, correct body posture, relieve pain and promotes weight loss. Residents 60 and older are encouraged to get into a good exercise routine. Senior Domino Group Seeks More Players

The Town of East Greenbush Senior Domino Group meets each Wednesday from 12-3 PM in the Town Hall Community Room.

Join in the fun by stopping by any Wednesday to check it out! You do not need to be an experienced player. They will teach you. For questions call 518-477-4194.

Poestenkill Seniors

Weekly meetings every Tuesday at 1pm at the Sullivan-Jones Post in Poestenkill. All seniors are welcome. Coffee and refreshments are served after the meeting, followed by Bingo and cards. The hall is handicapped accessible with sufficient parking. The Poestenkill Seniors have catered lunches, pizza, clam steams, fish fries and luncheons at various restaurants, informational talks on senior safety and bus trips to casinos, theaters and other points of interest.
