News from Averill Park CSD

Students enrolled in the Energy and Power class recently designed and built solar power cookers. The group conducted beta testing and cooked hot dogs using their machines! This is a great example of our teachers thinking outside of the box and our students putting lesson plans into action.

Thank you to the volunteer firefighters who visited our Elementary Schools and talked to students about fire prevention. Students were thrilled to visit with real-life heroes and learn all about fire safety.

On Nov. 6, we will be hosting a free viewing of the new film “Screenagers: Next Chapter” at the high school. The film examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges, the effects of social media, and what can be done in our schools and homes to help build crucial skills in the digital age. The screening will take place at 6:00 p.m.

As always, for the latest news from the District, please visit our website – averillpark.k12.ny.us. You can also follow AP on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
