Roast Beef Dinner at Cornerstone
On Saturday, October 26 there will be the annual roast beef dinner at Cornerstone Community Church of Lansingburgh. The church is located at 570 Third Avenue in Lansingburgh. Meals will be served from 4:30 until 6PM and will be also available for take out. Prices are as follows: $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, $6 for children under age 11. Reservations, call 518-235-3851. Reservations recommended, but not necessary.

Italian Community Center Spaghetti & Meatball Supper Fundraiser
It’s time again for the annual Italian Community Center Spaghetti & Meatball Supper! It will be held on Monday, November 4, 2019, from 11 am to 7 pm at the Italian Community Center (ICC), 1450 Fifth Avenue, Troy NY 12180. Eat in or take out a tasty dinner of spaghetti & meatballs, salad, bread, beverage & dessert for only $10 (children under 5 free). Roast Pork Dinner in Troy
The Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church will host a Roast Pork Dinner on Saturday, October 19th from 4:30 to 6:30 PM or until sold out
The menu is roast pork, mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetable, applesauce, dessert and beverage. The cost is $12 for adult meals, $6 for meals for children 5 to 12 years old and there is no charge for meals for children under 5 years of age. Takeouts are available.

Gilead’s Body & Soul Pantry and Dinner
October 25, 2018. As all of our animal friends are preparing for winter, we too are readying ourselves for what is to come our way for winter. This month we offer you a fall dinner of roast loin of pork, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, butternut squash and coleslaw. For dessert we have everyone’s favorite, apple crisp. We had many favorable comments about last month’s roast beef and hope we serve something as equally good this month.
Our pantry is back to our normal schedule of 3:00-6:00 PM. Now that we are entering fall and the winter rapidly approaching, we suggest when it snows you call the church at 518-279-9270 on that day to make sure we will be open.
For those of you who have not joined us for a meal, the question is why not. Here is our address. Gilead Lutheran Church is located at the intersection of Routes 7 & 278 in the Town of Brunswick and we are handicapped accessible. Come join us and meet your friends for dinner.

Castleton-Schodack Kiwanis Chicken BBQ
The Castleton-Schodack Kiwanis Club will be firing up its grills and selling its famous Chicken BBQ dinners on Sunday, October 27, 2019. This is one of our largest fundraisers and all of the money stays within our community helping to improve the lives of local children. The cost of the dinner is $10.00. Dinners can be picked up from 12:00 noon until 4:00PM at the Castleton Fire Company located on Green Ave. in Castleton. To pre-order your dinner or for more information call 518-732- 4228. Fall has arrived and it is time for our annual Roast Pork Dinner on November 2, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the First Reformed Church, 415 Main Avenue in Wynantskill. The menu will include Roast Pork from the Route 66 Smokehouse, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, cole slaw, butternut squash, applesauce, rolls, butter, coffee and for dessert homemade pies baked by the ladies of the church. Price for a ticket is $14.00 for adult, $5.00 for children 5 to 12 and under 5, free. Take outs are available. The Church is located at the corner of Main Avenue and Church Street in Wynantskill and is handicap accessible. Election Day Luncheon at Gilead Lutheran Church
While sitting here trying to put thoughts together for this article, I found it difficult thinking about fall and our luncheon, especially with the rather warm weather we were having. Of course you know Election Day is November 5th. Do you remember that delicious lunch you had at Gilead Lutheran Church last year? Well we are looking forward to seeing you again this year. If you missed last year, come this time!
We will still have that great menu most people enjoy, including clam chowder, ham, turkey or tuna sandwiches and of course pie for desert. Our hours are from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM. If you are unable to eat with us, we will have take-outs available.

Grafton Merry Makers Meeting 11/13
The November meeting of the Grafton Merry Makers will take place on November 13 at the Everett Wagar Senior Center in Grafton and is open to all seniors in Rensselaer County. A cover dish dinner starts at 5:30 PM followed by our meeting at 6:30 PM Bingo will follow the meeting This will be our last meeting for the year. We will start back up again in March 2020.

East Nassau Cookie Contest November 10th
Mayor Adam Acquario announced the Village of East Nassau’s 6th Annual Cookie Contest, Sunday, November 10th, 2019 at the Hoags Corners Fire House. Doors open at 1 p.m., judges begin tasting at 2 pm.
Anyone interested in entering the contest can do so by emailing cookies@nullvillageofeastnassau.org or calling Tom Kernan at 518-766-5131. You can also visit villageofeastnassau.org/cookie to print out a form. Just Bring the form, a $10 entry contribution and two dozen cookies to the event. Gary Ferris of Greenwich will bring a World War 11 radio show back to life. Mr. Ferris is a singer and a musician who plays the trombone, horn and bugle, he will perform his one-man “Until It’s Over Over There” and read actual commercials and letters from troops.

Wreaths Across America Roast Beef Dinner
Please join us at the American Legion Post 1489, 111 Main Ave. in Wynantskill on Saturday, November 9th for our 3rd annual roast beef dinner to benefit Wreaths Across America. All proceeds will be used to purchase wreaths to be placed on veterans’ graves at Saratoga National Cemetery on Saturday, December 14th.
