Sand Lake Seniors

The regular meeting for the Sand Lake Seniors will be on July 11, 2019 at 12:00. We meet at the Church of The Covenant Methodist Church on Route 43 in Averill Park. We have a short meeting, a speaker or entertainment and then a light luncheon. For the July 11th meeting we are asking members to bring a “BAG LUNCH”. This can be a sandwich, salad, fruit, such as a apple, orange or banana, some chips and some cookies, cupcake, etc. The club will furnish drinks. We will be playing Bingo. There will be prizes. On July 25 we will be holding a clam steam at The Methodist Farm on Methodist Farm Road off route 66. This event will be from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. The steam consists of 1/2 BBQ chicken, 1/2 dozen clams, potato, sweet sausage links, corn on the cob, coleslaw and pasta salad. We will be playing games, door prizes and will be having live music by Paul Slusar. You can still purchase tickets for the event. Come to the meeting and see all that is planned for the rest of the year.

Guest Speaker – Avoiding SCAMS

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Road, Grafton NY will host Jeff Russo with the Rensselaer County Sheriff Department to speak on ‘Avoiding Scams’ on Friday, July 12th at 11:00 am. Mr. Russo will speak on ways to avoid becoming a victim of scams. Seniors tend to be a target for con artists for many reasons. Knowing what to watch for and taking precautionary measures in very important. Scams, in one form or another, hit almost every household each month. All residents 60 and over are encouraged to attend this free presentation. Stay for a nutritious lunch (Tuna Salad Plate) followed by games. Please call to be added to the list at 518-279-3413.

Watervliet Senior Center Events

Friday, July 12- Annual Strawberry Festival and BBQ fundraiser with PICNIC SALAD COOK-OFF WITH LOCAL RESTAURANTS! From 4-6pm. $10 per person. Sign up by calling the center at 518-273-4422, or stop in at 1501 Broadway, Watervliet, 9-2.

Grafton Merry Makers

The July meeting of the Grafton merrymakers will take place on July 12th at 5:30 pm at the Everett Wager Senior Center, Grafton, NY.

The evening will start with a covered dish at 5:30 pm followed by our monthly meeting at 6:15 pm. We will play bingo after the meeting. Craft Time at the Center

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Road, Grafton NY will have the monthly Craft Time on July 17th at 11:00 am. This month’s craft is a decorated tea cup. Edward C. Swartz Senior Center

July Special Dinner will be held on July 19th, with Paul Slusar providing our entertainment for the afternoon. On the Menu: Pork Chops with vegetable & potato. A little something sweet to eat will follow the entertainment to end a great afternoon of food & fun. All Rensselaer County seniors are welcome to join us for the celebration.

Birthday Celebration / Trivia

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Road, Grafton NY will celebrate the July birthdays on Friday, July 19th at 12:30. Join us for a nutritious lunch at noon (Pork Chops) for a suggested donation of $3.00. There will be birthday cake followed by a game of trivia. Open House – Breakfast

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Road, Grafton NY will hold an ‘All You Can Eat’ breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, July 20th from 8:00 to 10:30. The senior center will remain open until 3:00. Come check out the center, and the activities and events available to residents 60 and over. East Side Seniors

Our next meeting will be on July 23, starting at 1:00 .Meetings are held at American Legion Post, Main St.,in Wynantskill. Team will be our host/hostess for lunch. Dollar Bingo Mondays in July

Rensselaer County’s Hoosick Falls Senior Center at 69 Church Street, Hoosick Falls, will continue Dollar Bingo the first 4 Mondays in the month of July starting at 10:30. Participants should bring a wrapped $1.00 mystery item to be used as a prize. Items can be practical, funny, edible, or whatever you wish to give. A limited supply of $1 items will be available for purchase at the center. Please plan to stay for a nutritious lunch at noon. Call the center at 518-686-7561 to be added to the lunch list. Senior Golf Partners Wanted

The SECOND nine week session for two senior golf leagues is looking for duffers, golfers who want to have fun and do not want to keep score.  The revitalized Pheasant Hollow is reserving Thursday and Monday mornings at EIGHT o’clock for these two leagues.  Golf clubs to use are available in the Pro Shop.

Grafton Fitness Opportunities

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Road, Grafton, has several opportunities to keep our residents 60 and older in shape. Chair Yoga is offered 3 times a week at no charge. This is a low-impact workout for the body and mind. Aerobic Swimming is available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Bennington Rec Center with transportation. Water aerobics offers a resistance and buoyancy that cannot be experienced on ground. The center has a small exercise room with a treadmill and stationary bikes. Regular exercise reduces the risk of injury, decreased symptoms of depression, and improves mobility. Regular exercise can lower blood pressure, strengthen muscles, correct body posture, relieve pain and promotes weight loss. Residents 60 and older are encouraged to get into a good exercise routine. Senior Domino Group Seeks More Players

The Town of East Greenbush Senior Domino Group meets each Wednesday from 12-3 PM in the Town Hall Community Room.

Join in the fun by stopping by any Wednesday to check it out! You do not need to be an experienced player. They will teach you. For questions call 518-477-4194.

Poestenkill Seniors

Weekly meetings every Tuesday at 1pm at the Sullivan-Jones Post in Poestenkill. All seniors are welcome. Coffee and refreshments are served after the meeting, followed by Bingo and cards. The hall is handicapped accessible with sufficient parking. The Poestenkill Seniors have catered lunches, pizza, clam steams, fish fries and luncheons at various restaurants, informational talks on senior safety and bus trips to casinos, theaters and other points of interest.

Senior Center Grafton Groups

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Road, Grafton, has 3 groups that meet on a regular basis. Groups include the Scrapbooking Group, the Quilting Club and the Stitching Chicks Knit and Crochet group.

Residents 60 and older have a good time, sharing ideas, patterns, and fellowship.
