Last Weekend for The Elephant Man at SLCA
Joseph Merrick (Bill Douglas) and surgeon Frederick Treves (Anthony Halloway) discuss what it means for Merrick to have found a home and sanctuary at the London Hospital.
We are all different, but compassion unites us! The Sand Lake Center for the Arts and Circle Theater Players presents The Elephant Man. The celebrated story of John Merrick, who developed a progressive and disfiguring disorder which left him living in pain and loneliness until, with help of a surgeon, he was granted sanctuary at a London Hospital where he was treated with respect and kindness, at the same time inspiring those who made his acquaintance with a new understanding of what it is to be human. Winner of the 1979 Tony Award for best play, Bernard Pomerance’s story of civility, understanding and overcoming adversity allows the audience to look past our individual differences and to better help us embrace one another. Poestenkill Historical Society Presents “Concert on The Green”
The Poestenkill Historical Society’s annual Concert on the Green will feature the TRI-COUNTY BANJO BAND. Join us on Tuesday, June 25, at 7:00 p.m. on the lawn of the Town Hall. Get ready to sit back, enjoy, participate and have fun. Swing, sway, tap your toes, sing along and clap your hands! All of our programs are free, and everyone is welcome. Please bring your own lawn chair or blanket. Free refreshments provided by Society members will be available throughout the concert and in case of inclement weather the venue will be located in the meeting room downstairs in the Town Hall.

Matinee Theater Players rehearsing the upcoming play “Dead Air” at SLCA
Murder and Mystery! Matinee Theater Players will present “Dead Air”, an original murder mystery on Tuesday, June 11, at 1pm at Sand Lake Center for the Arts! Do you remember Ed Sullivan? “I Love Lucy”? Hulu Hoops, poodle skirts and saddle shoes? Howdy Doody and Jackie Gleason? The Lone Ranger? RADIO shows? It’s the early 50’s!! You can revisit that simpler, more fun(?) lifestyle as you watch and participate in the last radio show of “As the Town Ages” which is leaving radio and becoming a new soap opera. But wait, there’s a murder happening! Who will not make the end of the show? And who could the murderer be? Join us for a fun afternoon of laughter, murder and detection! Possibly win a prize! Desserts and coffee or tea included for your enjoyment! Feel free to come in those old clothes you’ve saved from 1950’s or in what you’re wearing today. Tickets are $10 each. Hoosick Falls Summer Concert Series
The Hoosick Falls Summer Concert Series returns to the Village of Hoosick Falls for the Summer of 2019.
For the first time The Bluz House Rockers will kick things off with a wide range of music from the 1970’s. The band will have you on your feet and dancing to their versions of your favorite classic rock, R&B and Motown tunes!
On Saturday, July 20th, Hoosick Falls Native Charlie Frazier’s band from Burlington Vt. Blues for Breakfast is back playing a wide range of Grateful Americana. With over 200 songs in their repertoire, there’s something for every musical taste! The “House Band of the Champlain Valley” mixes a rockin’ blend of blues, originals, R&B, Dead and reggae, that’ll have you energized and dancin’ all night!!!
On Saturday, August 3rd, The West Side Drive Dance Band brings Friends, Food and Funk to Wood Park. West Side Drive provides style and energy to the covers they perform. From, Funk, Top-40 and R&B.
All shows are from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the gazebo at Wood Park on Main Street Hoosick Falls.
Food will be available at all shows along with legal beverages.
