Sacred Sites Weekend Open House

[Albany, NY] – On May 18 and 19th, The Cathedral of All Saints will be hosting the 9th annual Sacred Sites Weekend. This year’s theme ‘Medieval to Modern: Celebrating New York’s Religious Art and Architecture’, highlights the Neo-Gothic design inspired by the medieval churches of England. This is free to the public.

On Saturday, May 18, the Cathedral, located at 62 South Swan Street, will be open to the public from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM and guided tours will be provided. A folio from the St. John’s Bible will be available for viewing with a docent while the Verger of The Cathedral of All Saints, in his vestments, will give lectures to explain the duties of that position in medieval churches to, among other duties, safeguard sacred books such as illuminated manuscripts. Sunday, May 19th, includes an organ recital at 2:30 PM and Festal Evensong sung by the Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys at 3:00 PM.
