Sullivan Jones VFW Post 7466 Breakfast Buffet

VFW Breakfast Buffet, “All-You-Can-Eat”, Sullivan Jones VFW Post 7466, 25 Veterans Street, Poestenkill.

Rumor has it the Easter Bunny will be visiting us at the “VFW’s Breakfast Buffet” on Sunday, April 14th – 8:00 to 11:00.  Buffet featuring eggs, breakfasts meats, home fries, pancakes, homemade French toast, fruit cocktail, juice, tea and coffee.  Specials this month featuring Corned Beef Hash and Baked Ham! Waffles you can top with strawberry, apples, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, or chocolate syrup.  “Build your own Omelets” with ham, bacon sausage, cheeses, mushrooms, peppers and onions.

Adult regular buffet $8.00, buffet with waffle $9 or buffet with omelet $11/Children 6-12 $4.00 & Children under 5 free.

Come to the “Welcome Home” Ham Dinner

Come to our annual “Welcome Home” Ham Dinner, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus at St. Henry’s Church on Old Route 66 on April 13th. Dinner is from 4:30pm to 7:00pm. We will be serving baked ham, scalloped potatoes, mixed vegetables, dessert & beverages. Price of the dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12, and $20 per family. Take-out dinners are also available, just stop by, no reservations necessary. All take-out dinners are $10. Proceeds help us provide assistance to many charitable programs in our community. St. Anne Institute to Hold Annual Wine, Dine & Stein Fundraiser

(Albany) St. Anne Institute will hold its annual Wine, Dine & Stein Fundraiser (Co-chairs: Liza & Bob Tougher) on Friday, April 12, 2019, at Normanside Country Club in Delmar beginning at 6:00 p.m.  This year’s theme is “Broadway Bash” an evening of delicious New York style food stations, wines, craft beer, a themed silent auction, and music for the evening by Zuke Capri, Judy Wyle, and Crick Diefendorf.

St. Anne’s Community Partnership Award will go to Stewart’s Shops and Pastor Charles “Charlie” Muller; the Spirit of the Community Award will be presented to James & Kathleen Morrell.

Rensselaer Senior Center Celebrating 49th Anniversary

Join us on April 11th at the Melvin Roads Post located at 200 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY 12144 to celebrate another year of serving our seniors. Cocktail and Hors d’oeuvres hour 5pm to 6pm with a cash bar. Dinner served 6pm to 7pm; plated Roast Beef Dinner with Baked potato, sour cream, broccoli, cake and ice cream, coffee and tea. Brunswick Elks Fish Fry Dinner

The Brunswick Elks Lodge #2556 located at 665 Brunswick Rd (AKA Route 2), Troy, will be hosting our Lenten Fish Fry Dinners on Good Friday, April 19th, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM.

Kiwanis Chicken BBQ

The Castleton-Schodack Kiwanis Club will be firing up its grills and selling its famous Chicken BBQ dinners on Sunday, April 14, 2019.

This is one of our largest fundraisers and the majority of the money stays within our community helping to improve the lives of local children.

The cost of the dinner is $10.00 and includes chicken, coleslaw and a baked potato. Dinners can be picked up from 12:00 noon until 4:00PM at the Castleton Fire Company located on Green Ave. in Castleton. To pre-order your dinner, or for more information, call 518-732- 4228. Walk-ins are also welcome.

The 2019 East Greenbush Fire Company Friday night Fish and Chips Nights are back. Dates for the Fish and Chips nights are April 12th and 19th, between 4:30 and 7:30 PM. Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Road, Grafton, NY 12082 will host Jillian Ludwig, Community Nutrition Educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension for our monthly Eat Smart – Live Strong cooking demonstration on April 12th at 11:00. April 18, 2019 is our Easter Special Dinner here at the Edward C. Swartz Senior Center, 1800 East Schodack Road, Castleton, NY. It starts at 12:00 noon with a meal consisting of Fresh Pork Loin w/gravy, dressing, glazed carrots, baked sweet potato, dinner roll, fruit juice and lemon cottage pudding for dessert. The popular “Gone Grey” will be providing great music for our entertainment. Following the music, we will have refreshments served by some of our senior volunteers.

St. Jude’s Annual Community Service Award Dinner

St. Jude the Apostle Church proudly announces the 12th Annual Community Service Award Dinner to be held on Monday, May 6, at the Franklin Terrace beginning at 5:45 pm.

This year’s honorees are Mr. and Mrs. William Cronin and the Father James Clark. Volunteers of the Year Award goes to Frank Mr. Giuliano, lifelong Usher at the Church and Ms. Carol Larkin, teacher at St. Jude’s School for over 30 years.

There will be a live auction and a silent auction that evening along with presentations of the awards. Tickets can be obtained by calling the Parish Office at 518-283-1162. All proceeds of the dinner will benefit the Scholarship Fund of St. Jude the Apostle School for those in need of tuition assistance.

 

Hopes Kitchen Free Dinners

Hopes Kitchen will offer a free community dinner Thursday, April 11th, starting at 3:30. The dinner is an ecumenical mission by Hope Lutheran Church in North Greenbush and the Rensselaer Presbyterian Church.

The dinners are open to all community members. The mission is to provide a full meal to those in need and to bring community members together. There are no restrictions. Walk ins are welcome, and you can also call 518-248-5914 to set a time of arrival.

This month’s menu includes Baked Chicken Breasts, Mashed Potatoes, Maple Glazed carrots, Cole slaw, lemon squares, bread, butter and beverages.

Dinner is served at Rensselaer Presbyterian Church, 34 Broadway, starting at 3:30 and continuing until 6:30.

“The response to our March meal was wonderful, it just proved that this is a ministry that is needed and appreciated by the people of Rensselaer,” commented Jim Macris, Chair of this new project.

 

Knights of Columbus “Breakfast with the Easter Bunny and Easter Egg Hunt”

Join us for the monthly K of C “All You Can Eat” Pancake breakfast on Sunday, April 14th, from 8am -11am in Damman Hall to enjoy a delicious breakfast with the Easter Bunny! For ages 8 and younger, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt also starting around 10:15am. Don’t forget your camera to take a picture with the Easter Bunny for FREE!

Hope United Methodist Church is hosting a Roast Beef Dinner and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 11, 2019.  There will be continuous servings from 4:30pm – 6:30 pm. The family-style dinner will include roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, slaw, rolls, beverage and homemade pie. 4:00 – 6:30, takeout or eat in. NOPIATES is a local group in Sand Lake dedicated to raising prevention awareness and prevention of opiate addiction, providing support to those fighting opiate addiction and remembering those who have been lost to the disease.

Glendora Vegetarian Club

The entire month of May, Monday thru Friday, the Go Vegan commercials to help the animals will be on Channel 6 CBS between 6:30 and 7:00pm. They are all new scripts you have never heard before.  We have made 66 different ads. Gregory Charles Washburn does the voiceover. On April the 25th, Thursday at noon, Glendora is financing a vegan luncheon for the class of 1946, Classical High School, Springfield, Massachusetts.  All of us are 90 years old, out of a class of 315, only a few remain, and out of those few, very, very few are able. You are invited to join us. The luncheon is being held in the International Dining room, Lee Hall, American International College, reserved parking.  We are being served Bucatini pasta with roasted wild mushrooms, diced root vegetable with an herbed vegetable jus, iced water and a vegan dessert.  Julia Dunn, morning anchor CBS Channel 6, is allowing Glendora to do a television portrait of her. Look deeply into the heart of a newscaster, people would pay more attention to the Electoral College if they had a basketball team.

The Valley Falls United Methodist Church at 16 State Street in Valley Falls will host a roast beef dinner on Wednesday, May 1.  Sittings are at 5 and 6 p.m., with take-outs available after 5:00.  The menu will include roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, condiments, rolls, and assorted pies. Tickets are $12.00 for adults, $5.00 for ages 6-12, and free for age 5 and under. Reservations are recommended but walk-ins are welcome as space allows.  The church is handicapped accessible.
