Glendora’s Vegetarian Club – Teach Yourself to Cook with Free E-Book
Glendora Buell 518 610-5810 – With a pandemic’s required “social distancing,” many long-term food-shoppers have noted those vegan staples beans, rice, and pasta to be among the cheapest to buy and easiest to store. But once home, we may look at the grocery stockpile and say, “Okay, now what?” Many of us have already made that one thing we know how to make!
One answer: “Teach yourself to cook!” with Apples, Bean Dip, and Carrot Cake (ABC) by Anne and Freya Dinshah. It’s easy to follow along and use it as a step-by-step course with each skill building on the previous. It may be pitched to kids, but the book provides a simple, straightforward intro to kitchen skills that anyone of any age can benefit from. And if you happen to be home with your children and running out of go-to activities, the book can serve as a fun educational project that’s tasty too!
AmericanVegan.org is now offering the print version of ABC for 60% off regular price of $24.95; it’s now only $10.00 with free shipping, or grab the e-book for FREE. We may all be in this for the long haul – let’s make something of it!
News from Averill Park CSD
AVERILL PARK – With the cancellation of classes due to the Coronavirus, the Averill Park Central School District, along with every other district in New York state, has had to make some drastic changes in the way we educate and provide for our students on a daily basis.
Our faculty and staff have quickly adapted to the changes and have shown just how dedicated they are to our student body. Teachers immediately began distance learning and showed their creativity in developing lesson plans, finding great ways to stay connected.
Our cafeteria staff and transportation department implemented a food service program and have worked, in conjunction with faculty members, to continue the operation of the district Backpack and Food Pantry programs to provide meals to students while they are away from school. In the first day of this food service program, 152 students received 608 meals.
In an unprecedented, fluid situation, I am very proud of the way everyone at APCSD has come together to overcome the many obstacles we have faced.
As always, for the latest news from the District, please visit our website – averillpark.k12.ny.us. You can also follow AP on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
