Holiday Concert

Come out and join the Averill Park Community Orchestra for a Holiday Concert Celebration! The performance is on Sunday, December 16th, 4:00pm at Averill Park High School. At this festive event, students and adults from the community will perform various classical and holiday selections, along with a medley from the ever popular “Phantom of the Opera”. There is no admission fee, but any donations to help offset our costs are greatly appreciated. We look forward to the opportunity to share festive music and delicious refreshments with you as we celebrate the winter holidays. Erin Harkes is Coming to Sand Lake Center for the Arts, Dec. 21

Treat yourself to a special, holiday event starring the most popular entertainer in the Capital Region, Erin Harkes, at Sand Lake Center for the Arts. Erin likes to say that music is her spouse and comedy is her mistress. She tries to give them equal amounts of love and attention. Whether singing songs or telling jokes, Erin commands attention every time she steps foot on the stage. Erin is regularly voted Best Singer/Songwriter/ Comedienne in the Capital Region by the Times Union Reader’s Poll and the Metroland Weekly.  She has been the subject of several cover stories by both of those newspapers. She is definitely a local favorite!

Friendship Singers Christmas Concert

Join us on December 14th at 12:45pm at the Edward C. Swartz Senior Center. The “Friendship Singers” will be performing their Christmas Concert; singing many songs of the season. All seniors 60 and older are welcome here for our programs and meals. On the menu: Beef Stew with Garden Vegetables, Mashed Potatoes, Biscuit, and Fresh Fruit. Community Holiday Dance

Join us on Sunday, December 23rd, for a Holiday Dance. This event is open to all! We will be celebrating the season with dancing at the Colonie Elks Lodge (11 Elks Lane, Latham). Dancing will begin at 7pm-10pm, with D.J. Brian Zapel. The cost is $12 pp.

“The Wonder of This Night”! Concert

Capital Community Voices, directed by Julie Panke, will present “The Wonder of this Night”!  program of classical and popular holiday songs on Saturday, December 15th, at 7:30 pm at Genet Elementary School, Route 4, East Greenbush. The concert will offer music of G.F. Handel, John Rutter, Mark Hayes, Paul McCartney, and P.D.Q. Bach. Popular selections will include “Home for the Holidays,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “What a Wonderful World”. The chorus will be accompanied by Joanna Towse, piano; Randall Jennings, bass; Alex Atchley, percussion; Jacqueline Wright, flute; and Susan Gierthy, oboe.

Ticket prices for the concert are $10 for general admission and $8 for seniors and students. A reception will follow the performance.
