Back by popular demand, Bill Staines coming to SLCA
Sand Lake Center for the Arts invites you to see folk legend Bill Staines in Concert on November 16. Back by popular demand, sing along with this legendary folksinger/songwriter through his original songs of pure Americana. He has traveled around the country singing these songs for both children and adults since the early sixties, playing some 200 concerts per year and he has been the artist invited back to SJC more than any other and always to a packed house. Calligraphy Class With Sarah Gabler
In the workshop we are going to be taking a quote from a book, or a poem and using creative and expressive lettering to make the words come alive with watercolor and colored pens. This class is free and all materials will be provided, but registration is required. This workshop will take place at the Troy Public Library -Lansingburgh Branch on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 4:30 – 6:30 pm.
This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by The Arts Center of the Capital Region.

The Nutcracker by the Saratoga City Ballet

Act I features the magical party scene with Clara, Fritz and the whole family celebrating Christmas Eve, when the mice, rat king and soldiers take the stage for their epic battle. Clara is then led through the Land of Snow into the Land of Sweets, home of the Sugar Plum Fairy, her cavalier and her court, where they celebrate with dances from around the world; set to Tchaikovsky’s score.
Directed and choreographed by Beth Fecteau, this is Saratoga City Ballet’s 26th Anniversary production of the Nutcracker – a perfect holiday treat for audiences of all ages! Beth Fecteau’s choreography and production of Nutcracker premiered in 1996 at the Historic Cohoes Music Hall presented by Youth Ballet Company and Dance Eclectic. After two years and a growing school and cast, this production moved to The Egg and was performed annually until 2004. Beth retired the production when she was named Director of the Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs merging Youth Ballet Company into what is now the School of the Arts at the Museum of Dance. Beth is thrilled to be sharing her work with new dancers and a new organization in the 26th Year of Saratoga City Ballet’s production.
