SLCA presents “And…begin” A Trio of One-act Plays
Sand Lake Center for the Arts presents “And…begin”- the One-act Plays by capital region playwright Sky Vogel. Directed by Sierra Lynch and Sky Vogel, together they bring you “The Stand In” – During a film shoot, an ambitious young actress meets a stunt double who offers a glimpse of truth that lies beyond any script. “About the Author” – A woman, struggling to focus her thoughts, comes upon a stranger: her long forgotten self. “Shoes” – A teacher walks into a shoe store. So, does a businessman. Neither is shopping, but between them something valuable, and nonreturnable, is exchanged. This trio of plays will make you laugh, make you ponder and make you feel good! Lecture on Bob and Ray Eberle during the Big Band Era
On Thursday, January 10, at the Sand Lake Town Hall, 7 PM, the Rensselaer Plateau Alliance People of the Plateau Lecture Series presents a talk on Bob and Ray Eberle, Hoosick, Big Band singers. Hoosick Falls natives, Bob and his Brother Ray Eberle were both singing stars of the Big Band Era. They were extremely popular, singing with the Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller dance bands. They were consistently ranked with Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby at the top of the polls. Bob Suss and Joe Trupia will present a program describing the brother’s careers with pictures and audio clips.

American Legion Post 1489 Johnny Rabbs Big Band
On Saturday, January 26th, 2019, The Sons of The American Legion will be hosting Johnny Rabbs Big Band with special guests, The Tichy Boys and Blue Hand Luke, performing all your rockin’ favorites. This is our largest fundraising event of the year and as part of The Legion Family our main goal is to raise funds aimed at improving the quality of life of our nation’s veterans and children.
Advance tickets are available at The American Legion, 111 Main Ave., Wynantskill, for $10.00 ea. until 1/20/19; after 1/21/19, $12.00.
Reserved seating is available with a reserved table of 8. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., Band starts at 7:00 pm. Supporters can enjoy drink specials and are welcome to bring their own food and snacks. This event has sold out quickly the past seven years, so reserve early; tickets are limited.
